I've been reading up on ccxtream alittle today and I know It is used to share and stream media files, but what read purpose does it have? Is it not unlike kazaa or limewire? do you just share files but over your xbox? or is their more to it, can you get games? I would think it would take an eternity to transfer an entire game. Or is the main purpose to share video and movies with others in real time, you can watch it as you download it? I just dont understand the entire purpose of ccxtream, can someone hit me with a purpose?


If it is for downloading movies and music, music I can understand, but movies, why download them, just make your own, it's too easy now days, you'll get better quality making your own then you ever would downloading one, on top of that, you can choose how big you want your divx file to be 1 2 3 cds if you like :P

ccxstream is a Streaming Server (for sharing files to Xbox Media Player over a network)

It is not a download / file sharing application.  

It simply allows you to stream media from another host on a network i.e. your PC running Windows or a Linux box  wink.gif

I have knocked up a simple guide on how to . . .

- install XBMP
- upgrade to new CVS build
- install ccxstream for win32 and setup shares for use with XBMP

*UPDATE*

- install ccxstream as an XP service

I have been using ccxstream for a few days now and it seems fine.
Maybe a good alternative to users who are having problems with Relax.

ccxstream is easy to setup and requires just one command with options to
begin sharing out folders  wink.gif

Dont know if the way I have setup ccxstream is the best way.  But it is running
fine for me at the moment  wink.gif

In short . . .

ccxstream uses XBMSP protocol.

XBMSP is a more simplistic & faster protocol than the XNS protocol currently used by XBMP.

Though XBMSP has not replaced XNS it can be used by future XStream Servers to share media files to XBMP.

ccxstream comes in a Linux and a Windows version  wink.gif

ccxstream is setup via CLI . . . one command with options is all thats needed to get setup  beerchug.gif

See guide for example!

Performance wise i cant tell . . . Relax does good job as does ccxstream.  
Currently I am using ccxstream with no issues at all  wink.gif

Well Have been using ccxstream now for two days and I have to say it is a hell of a lot better than Relax... IMHO.  I have not had one problem with it yet... Knock on wood smile.gif  I just wish you could run it as a service in the backgroud :/  I'm very happy with ccxstream thus far.
