12:04:39 M: 19853312 WARNING: ERROR: Problem accessing the DNS.

configure your dns properly. i don't know your configuration, but typically this can be the same as your routers adress. if you run windows (i assume you have a pc as well), fire up a command window (start->run, type cmd) and
do ipconfig /all. notice the numbers listed as dns (might be called name server). set the same in xbmc.

and;

the reason it 'worked' before was that we had some hardcoded ips. those were removed since they were only confusing ppl into believing that their network was properly configured when in fact it wasn't.

CODE
Can't open the database MyPrograms6.db as it is a NEWER version than what we were expecting!

Yet deleting and letting XBMC recreate the file doesn't have any effect on this path issue, nor the occurance of that message in the log on restart

Ed:
Thanks spiff
, I hadn't changed the defaults in a long while for my setup (I dont us XBMC as a dash), as this is for someone else's box I did some time ago, who want's to move change to MC360. I did have a look at the wiki but the old info is stil there as canon, regarding <path>.

Also, Since moving from 666->06-11, changing from MC360->PMIII under  Appearances "traps" you in the Configuration section of XBMC and that with MC360, the open drive widget does nothing (yeah I know its v. likely a MC360 only thing). Can anyone confirm these things also?

Cheers

it's very simple - support for single .xbes in bookmark definitions was removed.

use a .cut file instead.

<shortcut>
  <path>foo</path>
</shortcut>

stick it inside the bookmark where you want it to show (i.e. put it in e:\apps in your example).

The above bugs are all issues with Mc360 only.  Go bug them about it.

Switch to PM3 and they all disappear.

It has NOTHING to do with the XBMC team.

Great post spiff wink.gif

Here I thought I was crazy.  I was running with no issues with this build, starting reading this and thought damn maybe I'm getting lucky.  But everyone is using the beta mc360 skin I guess.  I've tried out mc360 but even with the 666 build it wasn't ready for prime time yet.  I guess at this point you should mention the skin you are using so as to avoid confusion.

hey i was wondering if anybody was experiencing this....ever since i upgraded to this build it takes a long time to get to my game list....i thought it was a mc360 problem at first but then i switched to pmIII and i click on programs and it accesses the hard drive then hangs for a while then it accesses the hard drive again and then it shows the game list....so im figuring this might be a bug... can anybody confirm this?

Could you please explain that a little better? What exactly does it do? And what does this .cut file have to be named?

make a file, let us call it foo.cut, we want it to point to c:\xboxdash.xbe.

the file would be a text  (xml) file with

<shortcut>
  <path>c:\xboxdash.xbe</path>
</shortcut>

in it.

So, is not recommendable to use:
<onclick>C:\evoxdash.xbe</onclick>
?

sure, i assume u mean xbmc.runxbe(c:\evoxdash.xbe)

what we are talking about is having a single xbe in a bookmark definition.

!INVALID CODE!

<bookmark>
  <name>foo</name>
  <path>c:\xboxdash.xbe</path>
</bookmark>
!INVALID CODE!

that used to be supported in my programs bookmark paths.

sandpaperback, i doubt that was the problem since it only affected the thumbloader and that isn't enabled during a scan.

your problems isn't general in nature, i can scan my 15k song collection without any problems. i suggest you try to find which file is the culprit - there is probably a broken tag somewhere.

Okay.  It's not a problem with any of my music files (not directly anyway).  It only happens when I scan my music to the database and there's a zip file in one of the directories.  Like if I zip up an album and then forget to move/delete the zip.  I took a quick look to see if a bug had been filed, but I didn't see one.  So I'll file one tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks.

I didn't feel like reading through everyone's rants about this release, but as far as the game menu issue is concerned, I had the same thing where it said it was updating something, locked up, and then every time I tried to get to the game menu, it seemed to lock up... well I let it sit for about five minutes and then the hdd started crunching away and the games popped up... dunno if anyone else noticed or not (this is with the MC360 skin, btw).
