Check out the latest version of FoxyTunes, a Firefox Extension that allows you to control several different media players from Firefox. The latest beta includes support for XBMC!

http://www.foxytunes.com/firefox/download/...#latest-preview

Huge thanks to Alex for making this happen. Give it a try and let us know if you have any problems with it.

Some Install Notes:
-Please use a recent build of XBMC to ensure compatibility

-Make sure that the webserver is enabled on your XBMC by going to:
Settings --> Network -> Servers -> Web Server

-Once the Foxytunes plugin is installed and you've restarted Firefox :
Go to Player > Options > Custom and enter "-ip YOUR_XBOX_IP" to get started

Hello everyone - this is Alex (FoxyTunes).

I'm here to help you get this working and get any bug reports (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So, following LiquidIce's instructions:
1. Make sure you have all the needed XBMC stuff in place
2. Get FoxyTunes 1.3.5 Beta from here: http://www.foxytunes.com/firefox/download/...#latest-preview
3. Restart Firefox
4. Select Player > XboxMediaCenter (not GenericPlayer!)
5. Go to "Player > Options > Custom" and enter "-ip YOUR_XBOX_IP" (without the quotes)

yankefish: this should work with FF 1.5.0.4 - what's the problem you're seeing?
bobintrees: can you please describe the bugginess of the volume control?
mitchell2345: you should select "XboxMediaCenter" and not "GenericPlayer"

Thanks to LiquidIce for his help!

Let me know if I can assist in any way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This is cool and all, but why not just use the built in http controls? Just put the ip into the browser and you can control the whole xbmc instead of just a couple functions.

i second the volume control buggyness. it seems to always jump far left when you click on the slider itself, up have to click in front of it to get it to move and stay, and then it jumps to the left.

its nice to see that you have the 'show player' button bring up the http interface in a new tab, maybe it would be slightly nicer if you also had the 'hide player' button close that tab?

besides that, what a stellar job.

Keep your negative comments to urself! Im very greatfull for this feature see as though I use your plug in very often and always wanted to control xbmc with it. Besides how else would I be able to control xbmc with keyboard shortcuts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) .Yea the volume is a problem for me too, it seems to reset the position of the slider after setting it which is pretty weird and it makes xbmc mute everytime you try to move it. The only thing I think is missing is a button/gui to browse your xbmc shares and start files from there. That would make everything complete  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

P.S. now if only we can finally get away to display playing music on msn (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Very Sexy, I've got my bar tucked avay up in the top right corner, I can control my media center from across the room and browse xbox-scene at the same time (so much more convenient than using the web interface). Keep up the great work!
