hi... i'm making my own splash logo.... but i dont seem to find the correct size for the logo.. already made a 640x480 pixels but it is still too small... so, i wanted to know the dimensions to fully cover all the screen, i run my xbmc @ 480p

cool...

also... i checked a bkgnd on one skin and the image is 640x480 and it covers the full screen, how can i do this to the splash.png file in  xbmc\media\     (to stretch to full screen)

I've tried many different sizes for the splash, but I can't get anything to display fullscreen. Dunno why.

It's designed for the XBMC logo.  Anything else will be scaled to within 1/4 of the screen size, and centered.

Jmarshal, i'm assuming that if you make your own Startup.xml window, you can have whatever you want?
if so, Kics, i can code you up a basic startup spash window.

welp, i have gotten fairly ok at the XBMC skinning engine, so i will probably screw around with this stuff after work or tomorrow. in case you wanna play around, here's the XML code from the PDM skin's Startup.xml:

CODE

  5
  no

      ReplaceWindow Trigger
      button
      5
      35
      235
      special15
      ReplaceWindow(Home)
      -
      -
      Focus

      Startup-Top Image
      image
      0
      0
      720
      289
      4x3-Startup-top.png
      WindowOpen

      Startup-bottom Image
      image
      0
      288
      720
      289
      4x3-Startup-bottom.png
      WindowOpen

      Skin Name
      button
      35
      235
      special15

      -
      -
      WindowOpen
      WindowClose

      XBMC Build Info's
      label
      52
      255
      special12

      WindowOpen
      WindowClose

i am guessing what you wanna do is something like this:

CODE

  1
  no

      Logo Image
      image
      1
      0
      0
      splash2ii.png
      Focus

the splash2ii.png file goes into the media directory of the skin, BTW.
the XBMC online manual has a lot of info on the various parts of an XBMC skin, so have a look at that and play around.

don't worry buddy, i didn't forget ya wink.gif
try this:
http://www.skinjob.net/tsp/Startup.xml
download the file and put it into the Project Mayhem III\PAL\ folder. here's the code i'm using:

CODE

  5
  no

      ReplaceWindow Trigger
      button
      5
      35
      235
      special15
      ReplaceWindow(Home)
      -
      -
      Focus

      Startup Image
      image
      0
      0
      splash2ii.png
      WindowOpen

as you can see, this code uses the ReplaceWindow Trigger code from the PDM skin (thanks Smokehead wink.gif). the only other <control> defined here is a simple image.
Kics, if you want to rename the graphic, simply update the <texture> tag.
if imagine you will probably want to play with the animation tag to see what's possible. this particular code starts the graphic 100% opaque and fades to totally transparent over 1000 milliseconds (or 1 second).
here's the page from the XBMC manual explaining the various tags you can use:
http://manual.xboxme...=SkinAnimations
have fun

yup yup, when you have a <Texture> tag it looks for whatever it is in <skin directory>\media, so just leave the pic in the Project Mayhem III folder (or whatever skin you are using).

well it didnt work.... it still shows up the splash.png logo (default size  1/4th of the screen in the center) then it goes to black... waits a second then goes to home .....

 dry.gif

i've been trying to figure out where to put the picture because it clearly goes to "black"  <-- thats where the pic must go, but it doesnt show the picture. ....
