XBMC Browser 0.1Alpha for PSP-- Posted by XanTium on February 11 15:07 EST
From readme/nfo:

Quote

Purpose: To browse files available thru XboxMediaCenter(info) on the PSP and start playing the file on the xbox.

Limitations:
* Can only browse samba shares.
* Buggy.

Future development:
* Handle playlists
* Transfer and view thumbnails
* Volume control
* Skip to position in playing file
* Retrive information of what is currently playing. Progressbar etc.
* Continue session when comming back from hibernation mode or if xbmc restarts

Notes:
* I will eventually release the source, but it needs to mature a bit.
* Only tested on my psp 1.5 and with my xbmc installation
* Config in the interface does nothing

Can't you already use the PSP's web browser to connect to the Media Centers web server?

So basically this makes your PSP a remote for the Xbox?  Sounds pretty cool to me.  Also, what can you do with the PSP's web browser on XBMC's web server?

when you are in a web browser you can type in the address of the xbox on the network and use that particular computer as a remote for the XBMC, and since the PSP has a web browser you can use your PSP as a remote. All this new XBMC Browser is doing is exactly what the web browser does, its just making it run natively on the PSP.

I saw your story first.

This thing crashed my PSP.  I had to restart it.

The work currently being done on the HTTP API (see the xbmc forum) means we have significantly more functionality available then we can currently aaccess with the default web servers pages.

Personally, this could be exactly what I need for a wireless XBMC remote - although the web server works pretty well.

there is a new one just for MP3s for the PSP to run on XBMC. This was taken from PSPUpdates.com forums

XBMC remote music interface
version 0.1

(IMG:http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8251/screenshot0zs.png)

Description:
Control the music playing part of "Xbox Media Center"
without the need to have your tv turned on, wirelessly
from anywhere in your house.

Requirements:
-XBMC release from 2006

Installation:
Copy both folders (XBMCrmi and XBMCrmi%) to the '/PSP/GAME'
directory on your memory stick. Open the settings.ini file
and edit the network settings.

Known bugs:
If you use domain in a share, that share will not work. Quickfix: remove the domain part

Controls:
D-pad: navigate
Cross: select
Circle: back
Square: stop
Triangle: pause on/off

Notes:
-Only testet with firmware 1.5
-Its released as a standalone PSP app, using Dark Killers Lua Player 0.17dk1,
for better network handling. If you still have network problems, try turning
off "WLAN Power Saving" on your PSP.
-The Graphic is "borrowed" from the official XBMC skin - "Project Mayhem III"

Credits:
- ChokeManiac (www.chokemaniac.net) for the graphic
- nad and friends for adding the HTTPApi functionality to XBMC

So there's going to be PSP support but what about PocketPC's?

When I use my PocketPC(XDA2i) the HTTP server fudges up on my small screen.

I think I speak for us all when I say: ?

I downloaded this app and I think it's awesome.  It works very well, and looks like XBMC.  I'm glad it's so nice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
