Ever Since The Newer Builds Came Out..
« on: September 28, 2005, 12:06:00 AM »

I can play them.. but a lot of times they will start running fine, then in about the middle, the video jumps to about 5x the normal speed while the audio stays where its supposed to be (VERY few will play without video skipping).  Every new build Ive tried has done this.  And yes, ive even tried deleting the stuff out of my E partition for XBMC, and still no luck.    Is there a setting im missing?  .avi, .mov, .mp4, and all other vid files I play have no problems like this.  Please please, can someone help me figure this out?

I'm having the exact same problem. Only wmv's do this. Most start ok, then the video will speed up. If I seek forward, it will start playing normally again, then eventually the video will speed up again.

Yeah, another person I know is having this exact problem as well.  And this is even with  T3CH's new barebones package that was just released.  And yeah, if I fast forward it will be fine for a little while and then start acting up again as well.
I keep having to switch back to my really old build of xbmc in order to view a wmv file and thats the only thing I use it for.  That old build doesnt even support milkdrop  :o

i deleted all of the wmv.dll's from the mplayer and put in the wmv.dll that was in the may 30th release of xbmc, since with that version all of the wmv's played fine.  it's not a real fix, but it lets most of the wmv's play.  if the box has been on for a while or i was watching a lot of other videos the same problem would occur, with the video speeding up, then i just restart the xbox and it was normal again.  anyways that's one way to "fix" it temporarily.

ahh... i am sure replacing the mplayer.dll will work since it used to work  a while back. however, i dont have an old mplayer.dll anymore. any ideas on where to get it or will someone be fixing it soon? i have tried adjusting the av sync, framerate etc. as my temp fix, i stop the video, and then resume video to continue. sometimes pressing the right trigger to fastforward also seems to fix it for a short time.

thanks.

I found this in the "knownissues" file that comes with the latest T3CH build:

"* Issue: My AVI starts playing smoothly and then gets choppy
Reason: Probably a badly interleaved avi file
Solution: Enable "No Cache" in the video OSD, or re-save the avi with proper interleaving"

I on the other hand am having a different problem.  I have some avi's, one in particular, that won't play.  And I would really like to watch this ep.  I'm currently using the 9/21/05 T3CH build and am going to upgrade to the 9/27/05 and will post back.

this is the error i got from xbmc.log even after replacing the wm*.dll files when the file starts playing really fast.

ERROR mplayer generated exception in ffmpeg_decode_decode

However, we arent really having avi problems in this topic.  Its wmvs that are the problem in this case and I did try "no cache"  but to no avail.  It really does look as though the .dll file is just messed up and thats it.  I tried switching to the older one, and it does indeed reduce the occurances of speeding up
