« on: April 10, 2005, 11:41:00 PM »

ok, so my xbox is going in my car, i want to use my xbox to hold songs. all i need is some way that i can have XBMC start up and be ready to have some sort of button pannel to click like next song and stuff, or better yet, control it via my head unit. Any way to do this?? <

You're not going to be able to run the Xbox from your headunit.  On the plus side there are headunits that play MP3 from HDD's but, that wouldn't be controlling your Xbox; just accessing it's data.  If you had an RF universal remote with range extender you could build the remote into your armrest or somthing and wire the range extender to the dongle.  Inputs to the remote would travel to your dongle via RF.  You could also build in a wireless controller and control it that way...

Have fun.

BTW, I have both in my Xbox (My range extender is still external) <

ok, so i guess i can just hack open a controller and hook up like the d pad to some of my own buttons, but will XBMC be able to just start playing as soon as i click play or anything, cause i can see what song is playing with my X3LCD. Or do you think its going to be easier to hook up a mini screen in my dash?? <

LCD's are cool but screens are pimp.  Hooking them up is pretty easy.  I'd probably add a screen just for pimp factor.

This is my Hip Screen but the installation of other screens is typical:

The 5.6" GameCube screens dropped to $100 @ Best Buy around here.  The "open box" ones were $80.

ya, i did a hop pad before, i know for sure i wont use that shitty screen again, but im sure i can find one on ebay for cheap, it might be the best way to go, but it may just be better to use a text LCD, i just need to figure out if i can have it setup to just hit like A for instance and it starts playing. <
