Possible To Write Cd's With An Xbox?
« on: March 10, 2005, 08:09:00 PM »

I was thinking of replacing my xbox dvd drive to one better suited to read cd-r,so i was wondering,if you replaced with a dvd burner or dc writer, can the xbox write/burn discs? Im guessing no, but i saw this http://gentoox.shallax.com/modules.php?nam...=article&sid=49

can it be done via a usb external drive? All that tech speak lost me tho

You can do it with an external USB drive.  I have a TDK DVD+-R/CD-RW USB/Firewire burner.
I installed GentooX on my xbox, plugged in the drive to the USB ports, and usined K3B to burn a CDR.  With the USB 1.1, it's SLOW. But I did get a finished CD that worked fine.

Can you do this over a CDRW connected in place of the normal DVD drive? I am not sure.
As soon as my second XBox I got on EBay arrives, I plan to test.

If you have a modchip/tsop flash, then I think you can replace the original Xbox DVD-ROM drive with a CD burner/DVD burner and burn CD's and DVD's in Linux.
