Looks like the one I bought from Bmmods.com.  But I put my IR reciever in the little holes about controller ports 3&4 and it is completely invisible.

yeah.. but the difference is that this one is for everybody to enjoy and modify... I belive that all the xbox mods are "hacks" and that it should not be charged for... unless it actually cost you to produce it and sell it... but since this is just source code and parts you can buy yourself (not custom cases that cost money to produce) I want it open..

I'm sorry if my post came away trying to make your mod look like a copy or anything...I was trying to suggest that you should put the IR reciever behind the shielding so that it not seen and looks stock (as stock as crystals look).

hm.. i calculated what it would cost to buy the parts and send it to you from sweden. And it would be around $25 (shipping included)
But that is if you have a 1.6 box with 5V standby... if you have an older box you will either need a 3.3V IR module and I cant seem to find one here in sweden, or you will need another component that costs around $8 extra...

just so you get an idea of a fair price.. so the price of the xir is not quite resonable..

Yeah, that is doable. You'll just need to get the codes for that buton, eg. what address and command code that buton has. That can be both difficult and easy. Best is if you know the code, if you don't, then you might (hopfully) have an IR-reciever for the computer. Then it's a piece of cake. Coz then you just hook it up to winlirc (or lirc if you use linux) and just get the code through there... Else you can build an ir-reciver (costs like max $5)..

there might be other ways but these are the ways I'm sure of.. and it's really cheap (and easy) to build an IR-Reciever for the serial port.

so... get the codes and then you just change some code (it's quite easy, it's just to change some constants in the actual code) or you ask me if you don't know how to do it and i'll show ya!

so if you have any questions, here is where you find me!

good luck!

p.s.
For anyone interested... I still haven't cleaned up the RC-5 code, but it will come soon. If anyone needs it, give me a post and I'll get to it.
