 Some info on the file.

Video Codec InterVideo MPEG4 Video Decoder
    Audio Codec MPEG Layer-3 Decoder

After reading the lastest changelog, it seems that there was a bug in that made some avi files unplayable. Sounds like this could be your problem. You could try the latest cvs version of xbmc. There is a good script in the python forum that allows you to read the latest changelog on your xbox. I suggest that you get it.

that sounds nice.. I searched the python forum for this changelog script you speak of, but cannot find it. Not that its too hard to look at the log on sourceforge, but it'd be nice to just check it from the couch :)  Could you post a link to it maybe? Thx

Sorry, I thought that I got it from the python forum here on xbox scene but I got it from the official xbmc forums. Here is a link to the script

I use the solexalex modified verision. Because I use The Orbs skin and not the Project Mayhem skins. But it seems that his download link is down right now. Here is a new site for finding scripts.

If you guys haven't checked out The Orbs skin, you should do so. It's a great skin and gets updated often. Later!

If the files are in video db those settings get's saved. Not sure otherwise. And no, there isn't any way to disable it completly.

It is coused by badly interleaved files. You can demux them and fix them with virtualdub if i remeber correctly
