Upscaling Dvs To 1080i?

could someone please tell me how you can upscale dvds to 1080i. i have read the online manual and done everything but i still get the films at 480p

I wasn't aware this was possible on the xbox or in xbmc, there are upscaling dvd players made by Samsung, Toshiba, Denon, and so on that do this quite well, I have the Toshiba one, upscaling to 1080i is great.

set your xbmc to output in 1080i then goto the settings menu and check the upscale to dash resolution.
