As far as i'm aware the DX adapters that are known to work are V3 and V3.1 and not the earlier versions.

Gonna try putting the original 40 pin ide cable in and see if that fixes the issue.

Yeah, that's what I've been reading. If the IDE cable isn't the issue, I'm probably gonna test the original IDE hd to make sure the adapter is the issue, and if it is, I'm gonna buy this one: Amazon
