Exact Dimensions Of Xbox Disc Drive Belt
« on: July 21, 2013, 12:16:00 AM »

Well, I can't get exact dimensions of an unused belt for you, but I *do* have several used ones here that I don't need and would be happy to send one or two your way. PM me your address if you're interested.

The 1.2mm square profile and 22mm ID seem right from my measurements of it, though.

Exact Dimensions Of Xbox Disc Drive Belt

Thanks for the offer but I don't need them myself, it's was a question from somebody on another forum about whether the Samsung XB360 disc drive belts sold on Ebay are exactly the same spec as the Samsung ones for the original Xbox. I realised I didn't actually know what the correct specs are.

It is actually quite an important question because only a year or two ago you could still get drive belts specifically for the original Xbox. When I looked into this yesterday I only found a single Ebay seller (in the UK) claiming the ones they're selling are dual purpose, the rest are all XB360 and no mention of compatibility.

There are AV and electrical specialist retailers selling suitable drive belts of course (at silly prices) but unless you know the extact specification required that could be money wasted. It only needs to be a couple of millimetres too big and you'll have trouble with it slipping eventually. If it is too tight it could act as a brake on the tray open/eject mechanism creating extra load on the motor. Not a good thing for an ageing appliance with a difficult too replace and already problematic disc drive.

So if anyone knows...........
