"Bad" in what way?
Component failure? Trace corrosion? If the latter, where exactly?
I ask because I'm wondering if the problem might also apply to the trouble I've had a with a Xbox Samsung DVD drive which randomly ejects ie. won't stay closed. Once the disc is spinning and being read there is no problem, the Xbox works perfectly, it's getting it to stay closed in the first place.
After quite some time in storage I recently tried using it again and found the problem had returned,
I swapped in another Xbox Samsung DVD drive and that didn't exhibit the same issue. That appeared to confirm what I'd thought: the problem is with the other DVD drive unit itself, either mechanical or electronic.
It was dismantled, nothing appeared to be broken, then cleaned, lubricated and the drive belt reconditioned yet again. However after putting it back together the problem remained. That suggests the fault is electronic but I'm lost as to where to look and what to look for.
Any suggestions appreciated.
