When I tried locking the drives in xboxhdm it reported they were locked, so maybe it just doesn't update in Chimp until there's a reboot.

Here's a question though: does the key/password have to be backed up again if the drive contents change? I think I remember reading somewhere that it's based on the drive contents, but I can't find a reference now.

Answered my own question - did another backup after changing some files and all codes were the same.

I have tried cloning a few more times, and was starting to get I/O device errors so I went to windows and blanked the partition table, which made cloning run again without errors, but still this error 11 on boot up. What is the problem, can anyone please help? :-(

I ordered one from DX, which just arrived. It looks virtually identical to the one I have already, and the same thing happens when I try to boot it. I cloned the drive again, which appeared to work fine, but when I tried to boot from the drive the flubber intro hangs briefly, before continuing to error 11. Any ideas?

Can you specify your complete Adapter & HDD information? Brand, Specs, Serial, Model# etc.

You say you're using Chimp2.6.

Unless someone here comes up with better advice you could try using Idotsfan's Chimp2618 LUD instead. No guarantees but its worked for me the three times I've used it although these were all with IDE HDDs.

I tried that and the same thing happened. As error 11 is for the dvd drive I tried booting from a dvd instead, thinking maybe it would convince it it was fine. Oddly enough the stutter with the intro happened earlier (although the drive still spun up). Could it be not enough power?

I have just completed (2) IDE Seagate HDD upgrades on my v1.3 and my cousin's v1.4 using Chimp 2618 from our Xbox's. I am going to suggest you try a different SATA HDD brand other than Seagate or just grab an IDE HDD... I really think it could be your Adapter or your SATA HDD's aren't compatible with the Xbox. They may be too new.
