Softmodded Xbox Randomly Turns Off
« on: December 23, 2012, 09:35:00 PM »

Basically I have an xbox that is softmodded.

I am planning to cram it into a new case so its a mini, and here is what ive done
-Swapped in a new mini HDD
-Rewired tall capicators
-Removed the disk drive

At this point it worked fine for a while, as far as I can tell, then I
-Rewired the power button
-Rewired more caps for space
-Took it out of its original case to put it into the new mini case
-Rewired the controller cables to the ports so I could have them fit nicely in the new case (I also tin foil wrapped them in hopes to fix this problem, to no avail)
-Extended the powersupply wires from the original PSU so it can fit into the new case (They all kept the same gauge wires in the process except for the 5VSB line and another skinny red one, which had much thicker wires then originally)

Now it will randomly turn off, but keep the fans running and the LEDs will be blinking green. Hitting the power button does nothing and I have to unplug it to turn it off.

When I ripped new games onto the HDD using the disk drive it didnt freak out like normal for about an hour (At which point I turned it off as I was done with it)

The temperatures all around the board are not above 90*F when this problem happens

I have double checked every line and all solder points are clean and as far as I can tell nothing is wrong

Sometimes it takes 20 minutes, others 30 seconds for this problem to happen

This happen when on the lame cardboard, or on insulated nonconductive surfaces

Here is a video of it happening

Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?
