Hard Drive Upgrade Without A Pc
« on: November 01, 2012, 09:45:00 AM »

I read the sticky, but as far as I see, I'm SOL here.

Is there a way to get a hard drive XBOX-prepped without being able to hook it into a computer at some point?
I found this tutorial but it seems to contradict the sticky (surely the Xbox would Error6?) http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-ftp.php

My Xbox is already softmodded, if that helps. Last time I did this I had access to a PC, with IDE channels and such. These days I'm running a laptop with SATA only stuff, and I can't order a IDE-SATA kit just now.

Ideas?

Wait, duh. My bad. If I'm reading the CHIMP install thing correctly, that should work fine. Maybe!

Heads up, you can use a IDE/SATA - USB adapter if you're on a laptop.

I actually just did this for the 1st time last week on a 1TB Sata HDD install. I used VirtualBox and XBOXHDM 1.9 with success. Only thing is though, VirtualBox won't let you lock the HDD. I had to use a PC for that final step. If you're working with a non-stock BIOS, this could be a viable option for you my friend.
