It seems pretty reasonable to me that the ethernet port is blown, but the amber light?  I would think if the port was blown, it would not light up at all.

So what's the verdict?

The error 21 and no connectivity is a dead ringer for a bad ICS PHY.  I've seen a couple other motherboards with error 21 when booting to the MS dash, and replacing the PHY took care of it...

Where did anyone find a minimum purchase of $100? The best I could fiind was $300.

I found a source with a minimum order of $50 USD from Cali and they have these in stock (ICS1893AF) and I also have some on order and I also have all the SMT repair equipment and I also have the time to do the repairs cool.gif

I WONDER IF THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO OTHER THAN THE CHIP. IT SAYS I HAVE A IP OF 192.168.0.2 EVERYTHING SHOWING AND THE LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN PLUGGED IN. BUT HERES WHAT I DID BEFORE I NOTICED THE PROBLEM. I MADE A HOMEMADE MOD IN TRIES TO RESTORE MY TSOP THEN I REMOVED THE TSOP AND TRIED PROGRAMMING IT WITH A EXTERNAL PROGRAMMER WHICH ALSO FAILED SO I SAID FUCK IT AND DIDNT BOTHER SOLDERING IT BACK IN. SO I PUT SHIT BACK TOGETHER AND IT SAID "IND_BIOS LOADING" ON THE SCREEN AND IT WENT BLACK AND WOULDNT BOOT. SO I NOTICED I DESTROYED R7R1 RESISTOR. I JUMPERED IT AND THE XBOX BOOTED. BUT NOW THE FTP DONT WORK FOR SHIT. IF THE CHIP IS BLOWN THEN FUCK IT ILL GO BUY ANOTHER XBOX AND RIP THE RAMCHIPS FROM THIS ONE "THATS ALL ITS WORTH SINCE THE TSOP IS GONE NOW TOO. NO SENSE ON REPLACING THE IC CHIP IF IMMA GET A NEW ONE ONCE I GET THE MONEY

Do you still do these replacements Perplexer?

I'm still not sure if I am going to or just buy a whole 'nother X-Box, but I'm curious if the option is still open.

Yes, still doing these.  I have some extra chips, so I am able to lower my prices!

ICS PHY: $8 shipped (worldwide)
Full repair: $30 plus return shipping (about $6).

PM me if interested!

Cheers,
Plex

[Edit] Crap, lost my pics.  This thread is kind of useless without them.  I'll have some replacements up soon.

Does anyone know if theres anyone in Australia doing these repairs?
Turned on my Xbox to ftp some stuff yesterday after not using it for a few weeks and it looks like the ethernet port is dead.

It might be easier to just get a new motherboard.

Just wanted to post to thank Perplexer for the replacement PHY - and to thank everyone for posting in this thread.  This thread is how I found out that my problem was the PHY in the first place.

Perplexer shipped me a replacement PHY very quickly and I finally got around to installing it today.  Now I am back in business with working ethernet once again!

BTW - I fried it by simply plugging in a ethernet cable (after walking across the carpet and building up a static charge).  Also, after I fried it, I could still get the amber light - just no green link light.  Hope this info helps somebody.

Thanks again Plex!

Just another guy here to leave Plex some good feedback.

Got in touch with him through the forums with the standard dead LAN port issue.  Not only was his price very reasonable, his turnaround was uber quick.  Sent the board out first thing Monday morning and had it back Saturday afternoon.  Just got done playiing some hardcore Halo with XBC too!  Great to have my box working again.  Highly recommended.

Perplexer,  You're The Best!

I wanted to leave a shining feedback for this wonderful person.

He got my son's xbox on Monday, and had it fixed the same day and I received it on Wednesday.  On top of that he charged a more than reasonable price for the repair.  Wow!  I highly recommend him.

My son and I are truly grateful for all of your help.  He's playing his xbox now as we speak and he's loving every minute of it.

Thank you so much for making my son happy again.

Nope, on my v1.4 board, its a 10k, like 103. The R3V1 is a 47Ohm (470), R3V3 is a 100Ohm (101), R3V4 is again a 10k (103).

I got a problem with my NIC, last sunday everything was working fine, but today i can't ping my box if the xbox is on the original dashboard, and i can see the IP address on the ms dash, but if the xbox is on the chip bios(Xodus) work fine i can ftp and everyting, same with avalaunch, but if i want to play online with xlik-kai, the engine doesn't found my xbox, and if i try to ping, it doesn't reply, but my router LED is on, and the NIC LED is on too, like i said, everithing is fine unless i use a MS software (game or dash).

Anyone???

Thanks,
Carlos
