Replaced Hdd, But Can't See Content
« on: February 02, 2020, 08:22:00 PM »

I was hoping someone could help me. I'll describe what has happened as best I can, but if you need more info, I'll be happy to provide it.

I have a chipped Australian 1.1 xbox with a 200GB hard drive. A friend of mine gave me the 1.5TB hard drive he had in his old xbox when he moved over from USA. Obviously when I tried to put that drive into my machine I got an error 6. He had a copy of his eeprom, but he no longer has the actual xbox, which was a US 1.6 xbox.

I was able to use my xbox to load up configmagic from a disc, and unlocked the 1.5TB drive. When I start the xbox now with that hard drive, it starts up, and loads into xbmc, but I can't see the content that should have been there. I can see the applications, but none of the emulators or games (for those wondering, he gave me the discs for those games, so none of them are pirated). When I use file explorer to take a look, it seems like it is saying that there is not much space on the drive (not free space, but total space), only a few hundred MB.

What do I need to do to access these things? Could it be something to do with my xbox not being enabled for a hard drive that big?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

From a quick look, you may need to change your BIOS. Do you show an F and G drive?

Thanks for the reply. I'm at work now so can't check. From memory, it showed an F and G drive, but when I clicked on them, it would show nothing inside. How do I change the BIOS? I've never done anything like that to it before, just installed the chip and that was it. If it makes a difference, the chip is a DuoX 2 Gs.

Whatever you do, DON'T try to write to the F/G partitions on the disk until you fix this!

You need to flash a BIOS that supports on-disk partition tables. With a DuoX2 you should use X2.5035. Flash it using Evox - just load Evox as an App, put X2.5035 in the \BIOS\ directory below your Evox directory, and select the flashing option from the Evox menu.

N.B make sure your second BIOS bank works and boots to Flashbios or another working BIOS before you start, in case something goes wrong.

Ok, I took a look and have discovered that there is no D or G drive. In File Explorer, it also says that there is about 65GB free in drive F out of about 1.2TB. Despite that, nothing shows in the F drive when you go in there. Clearly I have no idea what this means, but hopefully someone can help (please!).

You've already been given the help you need - flash a different BIOS to your chip. Providing more information, or asking the same question in a different way, won't get you a different answer.
