1.I'm pretty dam sure it wont work anymore. i feel stupid for even asking this but i broke off just one tiny arm on a 50pin SMD memory chip when removing it to do a 128mb ram upgrade. the chips toast isn't it?

2.is there somewhere that sells just the ram chips to install?

3.is there a better tutorial on how to remove the chips than those on youtube? () this method doesn't seem to be the best for this job. its not working very well for me.

4.anyone tried this method: ?

5.does anyone use ChipQuik to desolder their chips?

installing isn't nearly as hard as desoldering these things. whats your method to desoldering?

The chip may work still (depending which pin is broken) as there are several repeats (mainly ground)

But, if you cant get it working I have a few Xbox1 ram chips still that you can buy. PM me if interested

P.S. I just watched that first video and that is a REALLY dumb method.
The second one is better, but I find flooding all four sides with low temp solder and using a heat gun or SMT reflow device works best.

A heatgun can be had for $25 at lowes.

thanks man. its the pin on the opposite side long side as pin one at the opposite end. do you know which would be ok or are you just saying try it and see?

will a 1700watt blow dryer work? i mean i dont care if the rest of the mobo gets toasted.

I don't think a blow dryer can produce the same temperature as a heat gun.
It's not suposed to put your hair in fire, while a heat gun is suposed to burn off paint.
The hair dryer has a thermostat that switches the heater off at a defined temperature.
Most allow to adjust the airflow speed, but not the temperature.
