1tb Sata Hdd In Original Xbox
« on: February 06, 2011, 05:01:00 PM »

hi
im modding my first xbox and i would like to add a 1TB SATA HDD to it.
i have a mod chip installed i think its aladdin XT with the M8+ BIOS
im sure that the M8+ BIOS supports up to 2 TB
ive got a SATA to IDE adapter
do i need to build a new HDD with xboxhdm? if so how?(im using the 1tb hdd for this)
or do i need to format the hdd with xbpartitioner first?
and i want XBMC installed on it
so can someone walk me through the steps?

get the mod chip all set up.

build the hdd with xboxhdm but dont need to lock it. just build the c and e partitions.

pop it in the xbox, then partition the f and g partitions with xbparitioner. split the two partitions evenly (or under 512 mb each) with 32 bit clusters. if xbparitioner 1.1 sees a partition larger than 512 it will freeze. so use 1.0.

not sure  how m8+ is set up but usually there is a ini file to set which and were to find what dash you want to load first, second, third, etc....

Or U just pop the HDD in, and use AID.
Follow the on-screen options and this should do the trick!

You don't need to use xboxhdm with a chipped Xbox. Just install the disk, cold boot with HeXEn / Slayers / AID to set up the new disk, then use XBPartitioner as described.

XBP 1.0 is only required for drives larger then a terabyte. Jump directly to 1.1.

ok i got xbpartitioner
how do i prepare xbpartitioner for the xbox?
and if i split the 1tb hdd in half will i be able to put games on both partitions? will xbmc have the games on both of the partitions in one list?
RECAP:
1. install xbmc with the AID disk
2. partition the 1tb hdd with xbpartitioner using 64K clusters
is that right?

yes, if you add both partitions to the same source they will show up in a single menu

and if you split it in half you only need 32k clusters (64k is if you want 1 big partition) either way xbpartitioner will use the appropriate cluster size for whatever setup you use
