Newhdevox1.4 ?
« on: January 01, 2011, 08:19:00 AM »

so this is from the read me..

''Install a new (blank) HardDrive into your XBOX and using this cd it will
prepare, format, and install the EvolutionX DashBoard, MS Dashboard, DVDX 2, BoxPlorer
and ConfigMagic Final.
This will leave your XBOX ready for use.''

maybe this is a stupid question, but from the sound of it.. i can take any compatible hdd new from a store, pop it into the xbox, and run this disc..?? then i have a new hdd for the xbox read to run..? no more need to hook up a hdd to a pc, and use xboxhdm ..? what about locking, and unlocking..? sory i have used xboxhdm in the past, and had no issues, but i dont have a pc to use to make a new hdd that way..  if this will not work the way it sounds is there any way to make a new hdd from scratch with out a pc..?

thx fellas, and happy new year to all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It only works on chipped / flashed Xboxes, and has been superseded by Slayers, AID, HeXEn etc.

For softmod Xboxes there are a few options, not all of which require a PC - see the link in my signature for details.

It runs on the PC. If you have a version 1.5 or lower you can flash the TSOP and bypass using the PC to build the new drive.

I went years never flashing the TSOP. I did a few and really like it. It was a little daunting at first. I am not very good at soldering, so that made it more challenging.

hmm, but that requires a mod chip right..? and yeah i have never soldered anything.. i wouldnt even want to try it.. if i fry this xbox, i wouldnt be able to get another one.. i am in taiwan, and there is no reverence for old outdated game consoles like there is in the western hemisphere.. i sure wish there was though...

so, i reading up about TSOP the mobo... so there is no need for a mod chip if u have the V1.0-1.5 xbox.. just solder the points, and then....? my xbox is already softmodded with the krayzie ndure memocard game exploit.. all the TSOP talk gets my head a little dizzy, can someone plz point me to a form that would be fitting for a person in my situation.. i dont have a PC, and just want to pop a 2TB hdd into the bastard, and mod it.. im sure i got everything i need already, just as long as my xbox version is right, need to do the TSOP thing.. i mean i have a slayers disc, i have the xboxhdm disc.. its the PC one though, i guess one of the early versions.. but it always did th trick for me, but now no PC.. so i guess it would be useless here, and i would just be using slayers dvd... but them my problem is the HL dvd player.. it wont read CDr's... so wtf do i do with that mess... im sorry im sure this is gotta be somewhere in the forums, i have tried using the search, but having alot of 'static' finding anything that is fitting for my needs..

also i just extracted the slayers 2.7 auto installer.. is that the right slayers software i would need to make a new HDD assuming i got the right xbox, and soldered the mobo..?
if so i noticed there is a system folder with 3 different folders, a 'retail' which has nothing much in it, just a evoxdash, and cfg file, then a 'all' folder which has the full C dash, e/f folders, a Evx folder, Dvdregion free, dashes, new bioses, and a config magic folder.. then lastly a 'large' folder, again like the 'retail' folder, just a folder that says 'c' and inside there is a evoxdash, and cfg file..
so does this sound outdated.. if so any thing better or newer i could get instead to help format a new hdd from inside the xbox itself..
i also assume anything with custom folders like e/f in it, i could just dump in some files to push it over the 700 cdr size, which then could be popped onto a dvd yeah..?

sorry to sound like such a n00b, but it has been a long time since i messed around with any xboxes, all i usually do is softmod, and has built a new Hdd a few times using a PC.. now just dont have a pc, but really want to get a new hdd incase my old one is having issues, i dont want to lose any data

thx again fellas !

Slayers should have flashing tools. The X2 4981 BIOS should do the trick with your system.

If you were to burn the initial ISO to a DVD, the the TSOP flashed console could boot off it and then you could set up your new drive from there.

Presumably. Though this brings up the question, if you don't have a PC, what are you using to mess with these files? A Mac or something?

nono, im using a notebook..

what am i flashing exactly, the mono itself i guess..? and that will not have adverse affects on my softmod.. this will just allow to boot this disc, and also run a unlocked hdd..? are there any pics of a soldered mobo on here.. all i could find were unsoldered pics, and many images were no longer available.. im also little curious about the wire used to bridge connections.. see i live in taiwan, and it will not be easy to translate what im looking for to some of the shop keepers here.. i also heard there is a special type of 'acid' free solder that i would need.. r there any images of anyone soldering in progress... guess i could also check out youtube, but im afraid the image quality will not be so good..

i was just curious is there was anything newer for doing this available.. just seems like the directory set up on this slayers disc is abit old fashioned.. if not, its ok, as long as it gets the job done..
will flashing this also allow me to change the flubber at the beginning, and make xbmc my main dash, because i cant do it now with the softmod i have..
i have seen tuts talking about a 007 raincoat, and something about a euroasia hack or something.. will i need to worry about any of that stuff...? im sorry for so many questions... but if i screw anything up, i will be totally screwed, u cant find old consoles here.. im not sure wtf they do with them, but there is no 2nd hand market here for anything.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

im finding many variants of the bios file u suggested.. like x2.4981.06, x2.4981.06.fc.ef, x2.4981.67, x2.4981.06 256k 50% fan... =/

Go to this topic. Scroll down to Lordvader's post. Click the links in his signature. That should get you going on TSOP flashing.

It is best to open each one in a different tab so you can easily switch between them.

CODE
Pulled from a tutorial written by circusmonki.

Make a "dummy" file of about 4 GB and create another ISO but this time include the dummy file in the ISO. It doesn’t matter what you name the dummy file. To make a dummy file copy and paste or type (whatever suits) this into command prompt in windows XP:

fsutil file createnew d:\temp\4gbDummyFile.txt 4194304000

ok thx for the link,i seen the pics, i seen other webpages, but the pics were not as good, and not much feed back on what i was looking at.. what about the bios file, bloke suggested one, an X2xxxxxx something, but i found like 4-5 different versions of it in my bios folder.. also i seen a fan on top of the heat sync inside, i heard that means its a 1.0 right..?
just once the points r soldered, pop in the dvd and flash it... will i notice any changes to my xbox..will the flubber be the same..
once i get the hdd im looking for i can just install it, and the disc will boot up..? then just use xpartition 1.1 to do a uneven split with 64 kb clusters.. reboot, and then use xpartion 1.0 to reformat evenly with 32 kb clusters..?  i seen a page discussing something like that, something about corrupting data after putting over 512 gb on the drive if u dont use 2 different versions of xpartition .. since im looking to get a 2 tb hdd

Yes, the heatsink on the GPU means it's a 1.0.

No, it's the other way round when you format large disks. For very large disks you format with XBPartitioner 1.0 first to give the disk its basic format, then use XBPartitioner 1.1 to format it with the correct cluster sizes.

ok thx Heimdall !
but what about the bios file, there were many i listed.. which one would i want to use.. i just tested my slayers dvd i made, and it didnt boot.. i havent done the soldering, but shouldnt it load no matter what, i let the dash load as normal, and popped it in like any game or dvd, it seen there was a disc, but when i opened it, just a black screen..

is there any other way to bridge the contact points besides soldering them.. would just hot glueing small piece of tin foil work the same.. just curious.. haha

x2.4981.06 should be just peachy.

It would likely be rather more difficult to glue something over the points then it would be to join them via solder. If it helps, I tend to cut about a millimetre or two of solder off my reel using pliers, sit the fragment on the points, then use the soldering iron to liquefy it and create the join. If the worst comes to worst, a conductive pen will do the job - you literally just "draw" from A to B with it.

right on bloke i think that would be the way i would feel more comfortable doing it, thx for suggesting that!. Im not sure if i will be able to find a conductor pen here.. how about the solder, does it really matter.. on some other thread or something i read about a acid free solder for use on circuits..?
btw what about the boot disc i made, it there any reason it didnt load on my xbox.. or is it something that will not load up on a softmod with TSOP...? the xbox read that a disc was loaded, but didnt boot when i tried to boot the disc.. just blank screen.. uhh.gif
