If you were to reformat, you'd only need to do the E partition - which would contain about 4.5gb, tops. Dunno how much spare capacity your laptop has, nor what the total capacity of your X-Box drive is, but you shouldn't need to backup the entire thing.

Usually this is caused by a corrupt save game - that is to say, if you backup just your UDATA/TDATA folders and then delete them completely, you'll probably be back in business (And then you can start copying saves back into it, some at a time. See if you can work out the exact file/folder at fault). You could even just rename those two folders and leave them where they are.

There's a FATX limit of 4096 entries per folder, but given that there aren't even that many X-Box games, there's no way you'd've racked up that many save folders.

This guy had a similar issue, though his game collection was very large. I'm somewhat convinced that the console only "likes" having 256 save games at any given time, though he never did any tests to confirm whether that was the case (just kept on formatting over and over for who knows what reason).

hey thx alot for the reply, im using a softmod, the krayzie ndure one i believe.. one guy on xbox sky mentioned changing the dash on C, but i dont really understand how that could help, and its not easy to narrow down the possible corrupt game save, i dont reallt play many games..mostly san andreas, and xbmc.. mostly after i get a new game or a app i just tested it to make sure it worked, then it went in the back ups. i got a 300 gig hdd in there.. but with a soft mod how could i even reformat anything with out killing the mod.. is there? could the slayers disc help my xbox boots up to my modded dash... ugh.. i havent needed to do anything technical on this thing in a few years, so i have grown a little rusty im afraid.. sad.gif but thx alot for any possible suggestions.. but if i kill my mod i will die.. haha i got tons of very hard to find customized things.. i thought about removing the mod threw its own function, but im too nervous that i wont be able to get it back, and then all data on the xbox would be lost..
i would like to try and delete the data folders, but then if it doesnt work.. then none of the game/apps/and emus i have will not run at all blink.gif
