If both the IDE and the yellow cables are connected to the drive, then odds are you'll need to replace it. It may be possible to work around the issue using a modchip, however.

Xbox 1 drives are completely interchangeable - you can just plug a replacement straight in to the Xbox.

The cheapest modchip is the DuoX2, and it's also good, and works well. You can pick them up in BST here at Xbox Scene.
