Help To Recover From Error 21 After Hdd-upgrade Needed
« on: December 19, 2010, 02:31:00 PM »

Error 21 means the drive is locked correctly, but something is wrong with the dashboard files on the C partition (the backup folder you mentioned is precisely that; it's not used for boot purposes).

Stick the drive back in your PC, unlock it again, shove a clean copy of the MS dash on the C partition, see if you can get it to boot that way. If so, then worry about adding a softmod.

While error 21 means the files are corrupt in some way, 16 means it can't find them at all... weird.

Rig the system up so's it's booting to an error 21 again. Shove the HDD back in your PC, unlock the drive, then allow the machine to fire up into Windows (with the X-Box drive still attached). Load up Xplorer360 and take a look at the drive contents with that.

Where did you source your "clean" copy of the MS dash? If it's an old version, there's a possibility that's the problem (very old dash versions won't work with later console releases). 5960 was the final dash release.

Yeah, that did it!!!  biggrin.gif  Just a small issue, something in the process (I suspect xboxdumper OR Windows 7 per default) enabled security frozen on that hdd. I have solved that problem by completeley turning off the pc one time and then booting with xboxhdm2's linux-on-usbstick and was then able to lock it with xboxhdm2 again cause sec frozen had vanished.
