Help Needed Picking Hd/getting Started
« on: November 12, 2010, 05:23:00 PM »

See the pinned topics at the top of this section for the various ways to update softmod Xbox hard drives, and for details of some of the issues with 1TB drives.

With a 1TB SATA drive you'll need a SATA to IDE adapter, but you also need to do a whole load of reading, because not all combinations of mods, adapters and drives work.

http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list check that site for compatibility.

I and many others have had good luck with this IDE SATA converter: http://www.dealextre...ls.dx/sku.12537

Really softmodding is the easiest part. For me at least.

You'll need a computer at some point to transfer files on to your xbox. Other wise there is no point to having a larger hdd.

But I found it easiest to use xboxhdm 1.9 (only because I didn't have luck withthe usb version.)
Good luck. Lots of tutorials out there.

Should be ok. But I give no guarantees as for the hard drive.

As a note dealextreme can take a long time for shipping. But as I said it worked for me. as others I bought did not.
Should be ok with a molex splitter. The adapter has a molex port converter as well as.the SATA on the other side. And yes the converter just plugs into the hdd and the IDE and molex plugs into the other side.
