« on: November 10, 2010, 07:48:00 AM »

I'm thinking of buying this gadet from newegg it's a USB2.0 To IDE Convertor.

A while back I bought a xbox with XBMC. My friend wants me to mod his xbox and I also want a backup xbox in case the one I got breaks. I was thinking of buying the gadet I mentioned above and copy and paste the HDD contents to desktop pc. Then xfer the contents to a new HDD. Then install that HDD to my friends xbox, would this work ? any cons ?

Plus I got another question would any IDE HHD work in any xboxes ? Also do all xboxes use the same power cords ? and do all Disc drive's are they all interchanged able too ? thanks alot ?

No. You need a way to lock the hard drive to make it work in a softmodded Xbox.

Basically you have three options:

- gamesave softmod,
- hotswap + xboxhdm
- eeprom reader + xboxhdm

Do a bit of searching and you'll find loads of information on all three. Start with some of the links in my signature.
