Check the wires and make sure they aren't crimped. Make sure the HD caddy is setting all the way down.

thank you, is a samsung sv3063h, but i think is the ide cable, because this disk is thicker than the original seagate, maybe the ide cable is damaged and a little presion by the cover is enough for malfunction. i will test by pressing with hand to see if  i can reproduce the malfunction. this cable is special?, i mean  length, separation between connectors etc?

Maybe it is damaged in the cable bend, just replace it with one from a pc. Strange why the original hdd is fine with the same cable though.

Do you have a SATA to IDE converter? When I had this problem it was due to my SATA converter. Try dremeling out some of the case where the top might be touching the hdd or wires

If the hdd is screwed into the stock location then there is plenty of room for the sata/ide adapter.

Nevertheless, plenty of other people have reported that putting the top of the case back on has caused similar problems.

If the ide cable is kinked or not folded correctly then i could see that being a problem but there is plenty of room in there above the hdd.
