Xboxhdm 2.2 Gui Display Problems
« on: September 05, 2010, 04:44:00 AM »

try ctrl, alt and the '+' (plus key) several times.
this worked for me...when i changed my monitor.
unfortunately you may get overscan - but it will 'do the job' as such - you just gotta scroll round the screen more if that happens.

I tried hitting Ctrl, Alt, Num+ 30 times and the screen just flickered a few times...

Any other ideas? Can you change a config file somewhere to boot with a specific resolution?

ah -  I mis-read your 1st post
you could try xboxhdm2.1 console version (no gui involved/txt only) - download from in here

moreover I did try my hand briefly at cheat codes for slax (to allow basic GUI) but I never succeeded. It wasn't a significant issue for me to solve as I still got the desktop with that shortcut.

I tried the Gui V2.2 on another eMachine I have and it worked just fine... Appears its just something to do with my main PC (of course the only one with IDE connections...)

I already have noGUI V2.2 downloaded. I'll just have to use that, would've just been nice to use a nice gui. Oh well.

Thanks for the help scullc

Sorry for the double post, couldn't find the edit button...

scullc, I am now using the console version. Is there a way to return to slax after Stage 2 xboxhdm? As of now I am having to reboot and reload slax after this step.

tbh, its been that long I cant remember  unsure.gif (I hardly ever used it)
I don't have a test kit to hand - what are you trying to achieve?

you are using xboxhdm2.1 lite (aka console) as I didn't make a version for 2.2 (didn't think there was any interest)?

These are the two files I got from your link:
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=690646

I was trying to be able to build an XBOX HD and lock it all in one go, without rebooting.

I was trying to be able to build an XBOX HD and lock it all in one go, without rebooting.

Unfortunately those builds are defunct...all commented on the thread...due to USB booting issues.
If you read carefully (took me while too  wink.gif ) you'll notice that there is a comment 'Note - the above downloads appear to have trouble writing files to X-Box filesystems....'
I rebuilt the 2.2 version (GUI only) with a different USB method and that's listed here
xboxhdm2.1 has 2 flavours (GUI & Console - both stable) and is in the project download page i linked before. Long shot, but maybe worth a download to see whether the GUI version works with your set up. If not, you are recommended to use xboxhdm2.1 console.
Had any success yet - in achieving the rebuild/lock?

This is bradygpalm. I opened my own account, I was borrowing a friends for some dumb reason...

My ultimate goal was to get rid of this ugly old pc laying on the floor next to me.

I got the two box's done that I needed to for now, using hdm 1.9, but I'm going to be doing another sata softmod. I'll give the 2.1 GUI a try and report back. Thanks

P.S. I did figure out how to do a build/lock... But I don't think it's possible to do an unlock/build/lock. I generally have it locked because I try that first to see if the drive is even going to work.
