Hard Drive Beeping?
« on: August 27, 2010, 03:30:00 PM »

It looks like something went wrong with the harddisk during the transfer to the pc.
I think the only solution will be the replacement of the harddisk.
Does your xbox boot into an error screen?
If so, is there a number in the upper left corner of the screen?

regards.

It may be worth taking a look inside the IDE socket. It's possible you might've bent over one of the pins or something. Also, if you messed with the jumper, make sure to stick it back in either the "master" or "cable select" positions.

You should at the least get a replacement drive, just in case.
Also, it's not possible to access an XBOX-formatted HDD on a pc, without running special software to access the XBOX HDD, and even then, it'll need to be unlocked before it can be accessed.

The hard drive beeping could be the motor failing to spin up, I've had this occur once with a PC HDD, which I had to trash because no motor = no data. Try rebooting the xbox, and listen if you can hear the HDD spin up. Take the XBOX case off to be sure you can hear it, 'cause some HDD's are pretty quiet.
