Xboxhdm Cant Lock Harddrive With Eeprom
« on: June 23, 2010, 06:02:00 PM »

The EEPROM file must be named "eeprom.bin", all lower case.

But the DOS-based "lockhd" cannot automatically use that file to determine the locking password for you, only the Linux-based version can. Instead, the DOS version relies on the password being stored on a disk in your floppy drive.

Boot your XboxHDM disc, and select option two from the first menu. Type "xboxhd" when prompted, and hit enter. Now use option six to prepare your floppy disk. Refer to the file "tutorial.txt", included with XboxHDM, for more info.

If you don't have a floppy drive, then you'll have to use a different tool to handle the lock. XboxHDM 2.1/2.2 might do the job for you.

Edit: also i cant use the option 3 to lock the harddrive i have to use option 4 because i get a black screen otherwise.

Look for a file called isolinux.cfg in linux\isolinux folder and remove the reference to vga=0x317 so that it looks like this:
CODE

label 3
 kernel /isolinux/lockImage
 append initrd=initrd.gz load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=0 ramdisk_size=24000 rw root=/dev/ram pci=biosirq

Reburn the xboxhdm CD. See if this helps with the black screen. And of course, follow the advice on the case-sensitive filename of eeprom.bin.
