I just received my Xenium yesterday (Friday). I desoldered my Chameleon, and installed the Xenium as specified for a v1.0 Xbox. After checking to make sure that there were no solder bridges or splashes on the MB, I re-assembled my Xbox and powered it on. At first, all I got was error 13, then I smelled burning components! I quickly disconnected the power and started on dismatling my Xbox yet again. After desoldering the Xenium, I noticed burn marks on the MB beneath the chip. I looked on the underside of the Xenium, and realized that it had burned. Thinking that my Xbox was most likely fried, I re-soldered my Chameleon and went through the whole re-assembly and test process. Odly enough, my Xbox was fine! Evox loaded and has since been running all of my software without a hitch.
Based on the description of what a v1.0 Xbox is, I'm quite sure I've followed the instructions correctly. Besides, I'm no novice when it comes to soldering or electronics. I have no idea of what could have gone wrong. At least the only thing I lost was my Xenium, which I will replace with a new one. Has this happened to anyone else?
