some dashboards hav it in settings i think unleashed has it or you can edit a bios

some dashboard has it some dont lavalaunch has xbmc has its all at the sittings menu

ok the best way to get full speed is to pull the black fan wire out of the little white plug...take the metal clip and unfold it and hook it over the metal casing of the xbox...voila 5 minutes of work and you have it running at 12 volts and 40 degrees cooler...also soldering it to the case is even better but not neccessary

they all run within just a degree or two of each other, don't think it will make too much of a difference what drive is in there.

If your drives get up and over 50 C then you need to just start to worry about how long it will last, up to 60 C and you really need to worry.  That is where failure rates start to rise quickly.

Sitting at or around 40-45 C is good for a harddrive.

You can change it the same as you did on yours, the fan speed I mean.

But, all the xbox's are at 20% stock.

I think I read somewhere that the xbox can adjust its own fan speed if needed, mabye something on the m$ bios.
