Hardrive Question

My friend is going to softmod his original xbox hd, then install a bigger one after he is done. If i take his old softmodded hard drive and through it in my xbox (which isnt working right now) will it work? Or what do i have to do to make it work

No it will not work unless the hard drive is locked to your xbox. You need an eeprom backup up from his xbox to unlock the hard drive, then your eeprom backup to relock it to your xbox.
