You can read all about the problems I was having getting my 750gig Seagate working right here:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...81073&st=45

But in a nutshell here's what my problem was:
Ok so here's the deal. I got a Seagate 750 gb hd as a gift and installed it in my softmodded xbox. Everything looked great,

the G: drive showed 523gb or something. So I started loading it up, then went into games and noticed some of the games

weren't listed. So I went into file explorer and although dvd2xbox went through the motions, the folders were empty. So I put

the game in and tried to copy in file exlorer...nothing, just get an error message right away. There's about 200gb left on

the G: partition but it won't let me copy anything to it. Does anyone have a clue why this is happening? I tried copying a

game in G:/games to G:/games2 and the same thing happened...it copied the folder but it was empty. And this was after file

explorer actually went through all the motions of copying it.

If this is happening to you, grab a seat and I'll tell you how to get out of it, because I finally got it through trial and

error (WEEKS of it!) and to thank the people that took the time to help me I've decided to give back!  The problem is that

you need the .67 patch and in order for you to have that, you need the 5960 dash.  Just do what I say because I know 100%

that it works!

What you're going to need-
Your Xbox's eeprom
Xboxhdm v1.9
slayers 2.6 or 2.7
Krayzie's NDURE
Craxtion 4.0
xbpartitioner

I'm going to assume you're coming here with an already modded large hard drive.
Open Slayers with Craxtion and extract the whole thing.  You need to navigate to Slayers2.7\SYSTEM\ALL\ everything in there

you're going to need.

Now- take the CONTENTS of the ALL folder and paste them into the xboxhdm/linux folder.  Create the iso (for more info on

doing this click here: http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox2.shtml )  BE SURE TO READ CAREFULLY ON WHERE TO PUT YOUR

EEPROM!!!

Ok, now burn the ISO you just made with xboxhdm.  I'm being vague about this because the process is described perfectly in

the link above.  Now shut down your PC and plug the large hard drive into the PC and boot to the dvd you just made.

Everything you need to know about this is in the link 2 lines up.  Unlock the hard drive, copy the contents of the drive,

then lock it again.

Hook the drive back up to the xbox.  What you now have is a 500 or 750gig hard drive with the regular xbox files on it- it

should boot to the msdash if you did it correctly.  The good thing is it's now a 5960 dash!  Now softmod it like you normally

would.  I used the SID mod and hit patch 5960 when I finished modding it.  Now FTP or copy over the Krayzie's NDURE mod and

xbpartitioner.  Using one of the supported games (I used Splinter Cell), bring up Krayzie's.  Back up the eeprom and then

have it update to the .67 patch.  When all is said and done if you did it correctly your xbox light will now be orange.  I

installed unleashx so when I booted up I had to go into system/storage and enable the g: in order for unleash to see it.

Ok good...now boot up the box and open xbpartitioner.  Highlight the f: drive, press white until it says format in 32k

clusters at the top and then press start and y.  Do the same for the g: drive.  Restart and you should be good to go!
***NOTE- if your dash reports the full amount of space IT WILL NOT WORK!  THE MOST YOU'LL GET OUT OF A 750g is about 715GB!!!

thanks go out to xman for his patience and help!!!!!!!!!!!!

To let you know, I've changed a few spellings in your post (such as 'Craxion' to 'Craxtion'), and added some helpful links. If I have your permission to alter your topic some more, though, I think it's worthy of at least a temporary addition to the helpful links guide at the top of this forum. smile.gif

Good job on your success!

Good Job...
BTW what are the actual drive sizes of F:\ and G:\ that unleashX reports ?
(important info for others that are upgrading to a 750GB HDD)

UGH!!!

xboxgamer you were right!
there WAS something wrong...i tested it and it seemed ok but i just reached the corruption point of the drive.  i hit it with 100g left...so i've got 650gigs of usable space.  to hell with it, that's good enough.  it will bother me not knowing how to do this correctly though.  argghhh!

Has anyone figured this out yet. I have a 750 and formated using xbpartition in 32k clusters. I split the hd between F and G. Now I do not have access to 90 gigs on each drive, I am missing 180 gigs. I am using bios 5035.137 on a v4(I believe) xbox, which is supposed to correct the F larger than 137 gigs. I am now in the process of pulling all my files off of the 750 to try to format it a different way.

Has anyone tried 3 large partitions? I know H drive is for the memory card, but it may be worth a try.

run xbpartitioner
press b it will split the hard drive exactly down the middle between f and g
instead of 137 gig on f and rest on g

format it
job's a good one

full 750gig

xman claims to have done it but he didn't take notes in the process so he's not entirely sure what he did.
its very frustrating isn't it?  wish i knew before i bought the damn drive.  for now i'm going to suffer with a 650gig drive (poor, poor me!)

You are not losing that much because 1g = 1024m which calculates to 732g.

if its not too indiscrete i would like the model of your seagate hdd just to be sure i buy the right one lol...

Will this one work ? Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3750640A 750GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM

on a other hand i tried doing this with another hdd and i do all the step mentioned but at the last one, the one to lock the hdd, in xboxhdm i type the command to lock and it goes to try to lock but it says aborting and leaves the hdd unlock...anything im doing wrong...

Here are the xbpartitioner steps that have worked for me without corruption on 750 GB hard drives:

NOTE: You NEED a .67 BIOS before you can do this, and THIS DOES DELETE YOUR 'F' AND 'G' DRIVES! So, be sure to back up anything important before doing this.

1. Execute xbpartitioner
2. Highlight the 'F' drive (Partition 6) and click down on the RIGHT analog stick to disable that partition
3. Highlight the 'G' drive (Partition 7) and click down on the RIGHT analog stick to disable that partition
4. At this point both the 'F' and 'G' partitions should both be disabled. Now, press the START button and then the Y button to confirm the disabling/deleting of those partitions. Now, click the BACK button (Next to the START button) and press A to quit xbpartitioner.
5. Execute xbpartitioner again
6. Both the 'F' and 'G' drives should still be disabled, so now just highlight the 'F' drive (Partition 6), and press the A button to cycle through the common partitioning setups, and once the 'F' and 'G' drives are equal (same size, they should both be about 360 GB) press the START button and press Y to confirm.
7. Now, both your 'F' and 'G' drives will be formatted with 32k clusters. Once it finishes, just press the BACK button (Next to the START button) and then press A to quit xbpartitioner.

And you're all set! No corruption will occur now, as both drives are below 512 GB, and they are also formatted with 32k clusters. I have tried this method many times, and I have yet to see any corruption.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

why use the f and g type structure ?
why not all on f ?? as long as ya format with 32k cluster should be ok...
be much better too bad enough having to split it bewteenb e and f, let alonf
e, f and g !

or is there an actual reason not to have it in this tyrpe of sturcture ? or just personal preferance ..

MIck ..

^^You have to have an F and G. With 32kb clusters you are still limited to 512gb per partition.
