My xbox works fine with the retail HDD in (Xecuter 2.6lite and Slayers with Bios 4983) but when I connect my new Maxtor 160Gb It wont boot the slayers disk and is giving Error 9. Ive tried flashing the bios to M8 but its the same.
Jumpers on the HDD are set to CS (ive tried all settings).
Any suggestions?

here's my problem...i don't know where else to go with this

i had to get another xbox and i bought a new chip and i want to take the hdd (120 gb seagate drive) and move it over to the new one...but what happened was weird

when i put the drive in and boot normal i get error 21...i', sure theres something i have to do but i tried it anyway

now when i booted slayers exov bootdisk and apparently the xbox doesn't recognize the HDD...doesn't even show a HDD connected...i then put the old one back in and it read the drive no problem...so i set that up and got a new set of problems

i want to know if there is a way to get the drive from my original modded box to work in the new xbox...is there some way i can make it read the drive?

could this perhaps be a bios issue? (stats on my setup below)

now a second problem is trying to load things in evox on this new xbox...if i try to load XBMC for example it shows the loading screen then goes black and doesn't start...but i can run some games...i can't figure out why the hell it does the black screen...it does this for some backups and so far all original games and dvds...

i'm trying to elaborate as much as possible

here's the setup

XBOX 1.0
SpiderGX with evox M8 bios
samsung dvd drive (works perfect)
retail xbox drive that i don't want

the desired setup would be with the 120 gb drive hopefully not needing to be formatted...as i have tons of stuff on it that i don't have backed up

i hope someone gets back to me on this...

hmm i'm seeing a lot of problems here and not too many replies to fix them, but i'll try too. i followed this tut- http://www.xbox-scen...dd-install2.php to put a maxtor 120GB HD in, i get the full screen with error 13. don't know what that means, but here's what i'm wondering about- when i got to backing up my original hd in evox, i did it. the tut said it would make a /backup/ directory in the C drive with 5 files, and it didn't. i did it again, and the backup folder still didn't show on flashfxp. so i disconnected, rebooted xbox, and everything and nothing changed. so i tried just adding the backup folder manually on flashfxp. when i did, the 5 files were automatically in there. so does that have anything to do with why my new hd won't boot up the install disc? anyway here's my setup-

V1.6 box, Xecuter 2.6CE, Evox M8 Bios, Evox 3935 Dash

first i tried putting the files on a CD-R and it didnt work

Sorry, but stickies usually require good grammar and spelling. And TR4G-, no one cares if youre mad or not, or how much you spent on your big hard drive. Maybe you should head on over to the tutorials and read how to create disc for an Xbox.

Don't drag up a four year old post to report your problems.

Ok i know some people are having trouble getting their new hard drive to work and it really sucks. I had this same problem.  Evrytime I would try to boot up to a evox cdrw i made for formatting drives i would always get an error or a or the screen half cut with the error in the corner. Here are some of the steps I took 2 get my hdd 2 work.

1. If u cant get ur hdd 2 work and have an xecuter 4977 bios maybe thats ur problem. After I changed to the evox d6 bios evrything worked out perfectly. Read this guide on how to reflash ur chip: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act...ST&f=38&t=60720

2. After ur done flashing ur chip to the d6 bios then go into ur evox menu and click on the thing that says system utils. Click on backup and this will make a backup of important stuff about ur xbox and will be located in a folder called backup in the C directory.

3. follow this guide on how to make an evox disc for formatting drives and other stuff: http://xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-install2.php
you can skip step number 2 if u want since we already did that.

This is exactly what I did and it worked for me. The xecuter 4977 bios was what was causing the prob for me.

Oh yeah if u want after u have the drive installed and evox on the hdd u can reflash ur chip back to the 4977.

good luck

p.s. i have a western digital 120 g. got it for 60bucks brand new at circuit city. they had two 30 dollar rebates  :D

**WITH THE NEWER BIOS U PROBABLY WONT NEED TO REFLASH YOUR CHIP THIS IS FOR PEOPLE STILL USING THE OLD BIOS**
