Drive #1 Will Not Lock
« on: October 17, 2006, 05:44:00 AM »

I have followed the excellent guide here:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=421367

and got to the stage of booting up using the floppy, however after I attempt a lock it  I check it with unlockx and it gives me this info:

1.WDC WD200BB-75AUA1 Lockable (not locked)

I can confirm I generated a key before making the floppy disk

if i run the linux tools from the CD and choose lockhd -a it searches the cd and finds the eprom.bin file and shows the key and hdd pass from eeprom on screen. under is a summary in which only "security supported"=yes. the rest are no

the only other errors i see is when the floppy boots it gives 3 lines of:
illegal partition table drive 00 sector 0
before I get a prompt

if I type the paskey in manually: 9e3a1c0567c49326b41b9af82776f8da56fc775d
i get

drive #1 will not lock, this program will shut down

is there anything i am doing wrong
thanks

i would look at the drive in atapwd and check it's security status and disable it there then go back to thelinux tools and if the eeprom.bin is found just lock via the eeprom bin on cd with correct command

on the lockable list:
http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list
there are mixed results for the WD200BB

it may not be lockable, most say that it is.
your specific model supposedly is, but who knows.

mostly i agree with the last post.
ATAPWD is an excellent piece of software. try it.

maybe try multiple programs to lock it. some people have different results with different programs.

if I fire up atapwd and choose my drive from the list, what option do I choose, I see unlock but it wants a password? in the attributes list to the right it shows a + only on the first letter of S E L F X V.

do i disable with master/user pass or unlock with master/user pass and which pass am I putting in here.
Thx

if you are unlocking, the master password is WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWD....until you fill the window. (it will end with D, i think)

i use XBOXHDM or slayer's to do my locking.

sorry, i misunderstood your post!
