I think it wouldn't be too far of to say that Team Xecuter will have this thing modded within 3 months. They do need the time to develop the chip design itself. I doubt it'll be a long time before they hack it. There's a gold mine to be had to be the 1st to release a mod.

I wouldn't be surprised if they already have, they have leaked a lot of information out already. Surely they know someone who has access to an alpha dev kit. So they might know the ins and outs of it already. Just a guess...

nah i dono if thats the real deal. Its nota bout the LEDs.. there is no IDE connector nor a controller? also, I do not see the ATX power supply connector, either this is a primitive beta or M$ is making the xbox further from the PC then ever.

Well if you look on the left handside of the picture you will see something that has a connection. You know the hdd is detachable so you will not see a ide connection! The hdd probable is sata neway and therefore doesnt use ide.

As you know the power housing is outside and therefore no atx power connection i believe

I know this is still a test kit but im gonna say my points anyway.

Whats the deal with the black wires on the right? I know those ones on the left were hanging out the top with the pic of the kid, dunno what for though.

Those blue LEDs look really tacky! Whats the point of having them there is the case is closed up and u can't see them? I'd rather put em there myself than have it come with them. The whole thing looks a bit...weak to be a huge machine. Big CPUs in the middle, kinda odd to have them smack bang in the middle, and the circuitry around the rest of it doesn't look too complex, which it should be, unless thats all underneath.

Yeah about the OS, some1 asked where its stored if the HD is removable. I'm with them! Any answers?

Read a lot more of it over this time. Come back with more ideas tongue.gif

Some1 on the first page said we'll be changing the fans and heatsinks in no time, great idea! Lets take apart the specially designed heat pipe idea and put on a standard heatsink! Oh no, my box overheated! Theres no need to replace it, dumbass! I heard this box was gonna be quieter though, they must be silent fans, cos it has 4, and the current xbox has 1 (or 2 in a 1.0). Gonna be a big job to make 4 quieter than 1!

Every1 seems to be obsessed with hacking it. Why? Seriously, what are the advantages of having a chip in the current xbox? 1) Playing burnt games, 2) Upgrading the hard drive, 3) Running homebrew apps, and 4) Running linux. There are more, but they are the main ones. A hacked bios will let us do what? Run software that we don't know how to write yet? Yay! Make a media player? It comes with one that will do most things we need it to. I understand that we may need to hack that to get full potential, but still, give it credit for being stock.

Theres no point in being able to play burnt games. A hacked bios won't let us copy games, theres more to it than that and it will take a while to get a a stage where we can be even close to that. Plus the fact that we won't be able to burn HD-DVDs for at least another 2 years, as the hardware isn't even out yet. So forget that idea!

Upgrading the hard drive. Your point? It will be upgradable as standard and theres no need to upgrade it will be can get past at least 5 other milestones of running our own stuff, putting stuff on the hard drive, getting games to run off the hard drive (I reckon there will be some kind of protection on this) etc etc. MS will see that hackers need bigger hard drives and will probably release these themselves, just to get profit.

Running homebrew apps, we can't make them and won't be able to for a while. People need to realise that cos they're in such a rush to put on their own software which doesn't exist and won't for ages after release.

Running Linux, this is the only useful reason (other than modding the media player) that i can see. It would be a VERY powerful computer with many uses, but as stated earlier, it will still need to have a release ported to the 360 before it will be useful at all.

Plus, notice how live is becoming such a big part of the 360? Hack it like you all seem to be obsessed with and there goes pretty much all the functionality of ur 360. I'm not gonna hack it straight away for that one reason.

So just wanna sum up and point out that people need to get over hacking it, there is no need yet. In case you don't know why, read above.

Thats a big post, but i wasn't bored at least and needed to point out many vital points that people seemed to forget.

Enjoy!

The bios will probably be signed (like the xbe files now) and that would make it unnecessairy to hide it in another chip. But to be sure, we'll have to wait and see  wink.gif

You know those harley shirts that say "it's a Harley thing you wouldn't understand"  I think this is one of those cases.

I'll try though.. People like to hack just to hack... and yes there will serve a purpose... if there is a lot of excitement about hacking it will probably happen faster vs no interest like you seem to have.

I for one will be waiting till it is hacked to even purchase one, this is just a necessity for me on a console... last console that I owned that wasn't hacked was the orig. NES, not that I didn't pop off that under cover and wonder what I could do with it.  OH, I guess I did sort of hack it they had a video store that burnt down close to me that gave me their melted carts and I pulled the boards and had one good cart I swapped them with... guess that's as hack as you can get on the old NES wink.gif

And like the ol' QA to why climb a mountain? Cause it's there... simple as that! wink.gif

1) Playing burnt games

? HD-DVD ? Isnt the Xbox just using Dual layer blue ray - which you can copy/burn with any standard Dual layer DVD writer.

2) Upgrading the hard drive

MS will only release upto 40GB HDD, as that is the largest seagate has produced for the x360. This is fine for playing games and customising your dash...however once a bios allowing FTP usuage is created a larger HDD will be required. Seagate produce another model HDD same spec but goes upto 500GB smile.gif which is nice....

3) Running homebrew apps

Homebrew apps are essential to making modding easier, allowing nubs which can read screen instructions and click ok to be involved in the scene.

4) Running linux

Yes, super computer, webserver, Tivo what ever once linux is ported and bios is complete you can do pretty much anything

----

To round up - if every one thought the way you do developments and modifications would never be made as it takes someone ripping open a box and playing around for no reason for discover the flaws in the system.

Thus far. Maybe they will release bigger hdd's, maybe not. You can't say they won't for sure though.

Any good reason why they would?  I mean what reason do you have for a bigger hd... LEGIT!  none really... custom soundtracks... umm that's a lot!  I think XBSC is correct, they won't be releasing a 300+ drive anytime soon and besides I'm sure it will be marked up substantially as opposed to off the shelf drives.

hmmm okey we all sit back and play Need for speed for the next 2 months waiting for a recall from MS?

Or...we rip it apart and as a community develop the X360 and hope the initial version is okey. Well like the man who tried eating the white ball which came from the chickens ass and called it the egg - we shall be the inovators of the x360.

Enjoy Need for speed "Justincredibal"
