you never know what hacks might come out for the ps3 and bluetooth

Cryptographers have discovered a way to hack Bluetooth-enabled devices even when security features are switched on. The discovery may make it even easier for hackers to eavesdrop on conversations and charge their own calls to someone else’s cellphone

exactly how do you come up with your 1 in 100 figure?  in any event it takes hardware support first, before the software would think to support it.  if you build it they will come so to speak.  you just wait and see...i promise you that when the ps3 rolls in supporting up to 7 controllers the games will follow.  really, how much money would it take for a game developer to add support for a 5th player?  my guess is hardly anthing at all.  i mean there's already 10 characters on the screen at a time in a basketball game...so you're just allowing an extra controller support for one (or three) more of them.  not a big deal on the software side.  just wait and see...it will happen.

The only thing I see the seven controllers being used for is sports, maybe games like Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, it had two-players, which you could play on one screen.

During pairing two Bluetooth devices establish the 128-bit secret “link key” that they then store and use to encrypt all further communication. The first step requires the legitimate users to type the same secret, four-digit PIN into both devices. The two devices then use this PIN in a complex process to arrive at the common link key.
The person needs to pick up the signal and brute the PIN which is relatively easy to do one a phone since the PIN is only for digits, although keyboards and other app's have more I believe, You have to be relatively close to pick up the signal and crack the PIN so unless your buddies are in the next room pointing an antenna at you holding their lap top, no one will interfere with the PS3's controllers. That is all based on phones though so controllers and such may work totaly different, I don't know much about  bluetooth.

or 14 guys or gals, 2 rooms, 4 monitors, 2 PS3s', 14 controllers. OMG, I just wet myself.

Now your probalby wondering were am I gonna get 13 friends to play a game. If you live in a dorm then it shouldn't be a problem. My buddies and I all get together and have 16 player slayer fests in Halo just about every weekend. beerchug.gif  beerchug.gif

Wow.. must every game be a FPS, racing, or sports game? No wonder MS keeps churning out the same game over and over again. Of course it'd suck to split a screen 5 or 6 ways, but lots of games can be played with several players without split screen. Oh wait... thats right, the xbox has very few of those games compared to the other two consoles.

will the ps3 have 4 ports on the console or will it require the multi-tap device to fully function.  tell me you weren't pissed when ps2 still used a multi-tap.   they are expensive also.

Yeah, like, who ever played Goldeneye with their friends?! Pfft.
Or Halo? Pfftt.

lol, I'm just pojnting out that shooters are a very fun multiplayer game as well.

It would be nice having one of those 'you lose and you laugh'  kinda games like super monkey ball when you are with your friends, but I guess there is a reason why people prefer halo instead.

I like games like super monkey ball (I haven't played it, but I've played games like it) and yes they are fun, but I also remember playing 2 player deathmatches with my brother over Jet force gemini, one of the funnest console shooters I've played. Then i remember playing a lot of mario party as well. I guess people just have preferences.

BTW, I really dislike playing shooters over pc's because I can't help but feel like I am playing a point and shoot game with a mouse, all in my opinion. When I play with a controller, I just love the feel of strafing and walking sideways with the joysticks and looking up and to the side while waslking etc. I just like the whole controller thing personally. But playing with mice are much better since you obviously have better coordination and can zip to a target in a flash.

laugh.gif   i still play mario kart for SNES with my friend weekly.  games like that are legends.  most games today seem to be made with much haste and less thought.  maybe there will be more blockbusters on 360 than there were on xbox.  halo made the xbox.

Well Halo has the auto aim to make it funner to shoot people while jumping, but yes it is overdone and, shouldn't even fucking be there in the first place, but oh well. If you are 1v1, at least you BOTH have auto aim, it's jsut that people can kill easier.

I barely notice the auto-aim being very annoying? It's not that great? I didn't think it wasn't that effective? Was it with the auto-update for Halo 2? I don't have Xbox Live you know.

I never said it was annoying, just made players require less skill to kill another player. The thing is, you all have auto-aim, so no one actually has an advantage, so it's all good.

They could make it so four people could network wirelessly with two tv's and two 360's with each player having half a screen AND each player had thier own camera angle to better play and see the game all seamlessly and the ability to scale that up to each player on the floor.

EA's not going to do that. They will try to keep us happy with 4 player one screen action with slight improvements for fifty bucks a year even on 360.
