Using 29 Pin Homebrew

(1/2) > >>

Th3_H0unD:
I have a v1.0 xbox that was given to me cause the Hard Drive was dead. The person that gave it too me
did not ever have it modded. So I'm hoping that I can install a 29 pin homebrew to fix the problem.
The only thing is, is the 29 pin homebrew that I have is a 256k Flashrom. Can I still use this ? If so
what needs to be done ? I've installed the homebrew as posted for the v1.0 board but it flashes like
the unit is fragged if I remove the Flashrom the unit starts normal.

Help !!!! Anyone ????

Arius:
You can use any chip for replacing a dead drive.

I dont know why you are getting the fragging though if the chip is installed corectly etc...

Th3_H0unD:
Well I followed the pinouts from "http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips/ownmod_diagrams.html"
The 2 points above2 and 30 should I be shorting those or leave them alone ?

Zedek:
Leave those alone...they arn't needed..and recheck your points. If it's fragging, something's not hooked up where it should be.

war god:
How come the homebrew EEPROM has an A18 on it (even though it isn't used) but no A19?  Always wondered this.  Also, should he connect the WE (31) on the chip to 32 (5V) on the mobo or should he connect the WE (31) to the GND (V55 pin 16) on the chip itself?
