Quick question, if I have a 1.4 xbox that required the raincoat flash meathod (4979 current), and now I want to upgrade it to use the new x-ecuter (4980) BIOS, do I have to do the whole 007 process or can I just put the raincoat folder on a drive and run it as an application and upgrade the BIOS like that ?

Raincoat is an xbox-linux application, not an XBE.  You'll have to boot Linux on the box and run raincoat from there.

You CAN copy all of the files from the save game onto your drive somewhere and launch the default.xbe from your current dash - I've done it several times now.  Once Linux is running, you can telnet in and run raincoat (or if the save game hack you're using runs raincoat automatically, then you're done).

Yeah the 4980 bios was released a couple of days ago through the 'usual channels' wink.gif

A 'big up' to the X-ecuter Team smile.gif

But I digress...

The easiest thing to do is chuck that linux directory from your 007 save game onto a CDRW.

I.e. make sure that the default.xbe in the root directory and away you go smile.gif

Which makes a TSOP mod _the fastest_ mod to upgrade smile.gif

cheers,

the nice thing about launching the minilinux xbe from another dashboard (rather than booting it) is the video output actually works so you dont have to telnet, you can use a usb keyboard and type in onscreen, i do it with evox all the time

Groovy... thanks lordvader, you just saved me some more time per TSOP (Bourkie, now glad he has two USB-Xbox adaptors - one for a TSOP keyboard and one for his Web Server's DSL modem!)
