no and no, the 2 wire trick only works if you flash a full (complete) 256k bios to a 1mb bios chip, since the 1.5 only has 256k the bios is only shadowed once, so if its bad its bad

same for a 1.3, since 196k isnt enough data to boot the xbox theres no way without a 29-wire modchip

okay guys, so i think im fubar
here is what i have and then ill tell you guys what i did to it

V1.0 Made in Mexico
4032 Kernel
I got this soft modded by a buddy of mine, and it was working fine until i decided to try to upgrade stuff...

Here is what i did to it

I tried flashing the TSOP because i thought this would update my version of EVOX, i had
Remote X v1.8.128 from evox
so i uploaded "EVOX X-CHIP Bios V1.0.bin" to my bios folder in my xbox and then flashed it

as i found out, i ddint have the x-chip, and therefore it flashed 50% and then froze on me, when i restarted, it was doing that thing that everyone has complained of. restart...restart... then stays on flashing red and green. obviously my tsop is messed up

now the solution?
should i try the three wire setup? i know that it said that you have to have a working 256k to load it up on, i dont know if the bios that i uploaded even had that, and if the three wire bit cant work, then i got a few questions

1. i heard of a way to "short out" the tsop by bridging two spots on the xbox and then
cutting the wire and restarting the xbox and flashing it? is this possible, and if so, how does one go about doing it

2. can i use a "solderless" chip to make my xbox work again even though my xbox was soldered for the softmod?

3. can i save the box using the 29 wire chip? and then flash the tsop and remove the mod?

Thank you for your guy's help in advance, I really appreciate it

1. No i don't think this is going to work in your case as the x-chip bios wasn't completely flashed to your chip so you're more than likely not going to have an entire 256k valid bios image to boot from.

2. installing a modchip will revive your box, anything will do. Check out eurasia for some cheap solutions. You may want to consider the duox2, it has two available 256k banks, so if you mess one up you've got a backup to boot from. If you go this route dont bother installing any additional wires, just ground D0 as you're not going to be able to boot anything if you disable the modchip (this would boot the tsop, and you know what's happeneing when you do that)

3. Using a 29wire mod will allow you to flash your xbox's tsop again, but it'll be much more difficult to isntall than a LPC mod.

I would go with method 2 and just say bye bye to the tsop. You'll still be able to do every you used to, you're just loading your bios from something different.

A good way to check if you got a 1 meg or 256K bios is to count the pins....
1 meg TSOP has 40 pind ( i beleive) and a 256k has 32.... but ifim mistaken.. about the amount of pins correct me... but I know for a fact that 1 meg has more pins,,,,

Cheers! beerchug.gif

no, th threee wire trick is to force the xbox to load a bios fromt he first 256k of a 1mb TSOP, 1.4s only have 256k (only one bank, if its bad its bad) so a bad flash must be repaired with a 29 wire mod

heres my situation.
I went to flash with my new evox disk and when it started to erase the original bios it started and the bar only went an 1/8 of the way and froze. so after a while i turned it off and back on got the error two reboots and green/red flashing.

Can someone tell me what my options are. Thanks in Advance.

is this a 1.0 or 1.1? is so connect a18 and a19 to 5v (same as 3 wire trick, but using 5v instead of ground)
