Slate Beta Released
« on: February 21, 2007, 03:39:00 PM »

The day has finally come! Team af is releasing our first public beta of Slate.

Slate started out as this  http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...76566&st=30

Slate has been in development for about 6 weeks. In that time a lot has changed from the original mockups.

Please be sure to use the latest version of xbmc. The latest T3CH release will work just fine.

Things to know

Slate has only been skinned for 4:3 resolution.
Slate will work in 16:9 resolution but has not been optimized for it. Please don't post bug reports for 16:9.
Xlink has not been skinned yet and will not work.
Overlays have not been finished.

We are releasing a skin for the webserver in xbmc.
We are also releasing skins for some of the scripts.

Please checkout our website for more info and downloads.

Nice work yo. Looks really professional and I like the ability you give the user to customize the skin to his or her liking with your skin settings. Great work.

Small bug report...
- No toast notifications popup (@least it didn't for mounted memory units)

- "Manually Add To Database" runs off the button its on.

- Time & Date overlap slightly on the homescreen.

- Background visualisation sometimes disappears from the homescreen, the problem can be resolved by going to 'settings' then backing out. (the same bug exists in Clearity)

- Names for items dont appear in the following views,
  Icons
  Big Icons
  Wraplist
  Big Wraplist
  Wide Icons
  Big Wide

- The selected "Set Content" for videos disappears.

- Unable to select the 'Menu' in the OSD for DVD's.

I am going to get some sleep, I am going to test more tomorrow.
Thanks Team AF

This one is not a bug ;-) Check out "Settings > Skin Settings" you'll find a bunch of settings there that can be turned on and off, the item labels are one of those settings ;-)

gottastopdrinkin thanks for you bug report. Here is what I have got so far.

QUOTE
No toast notifications popup (@least it didn't for mounted memory units)

I haven't code the xlink stuff and I believe that this uses the same dialog.

QUOTE
"Manually Add To Database" runs off the button its on

I have checked in both resolutions in xbmc_pc and it doesn't run off the button. Maybe you could supply me with a screenshot and let me know pal or ntsc and let me know 16:9 or 4:3

QUOTE
Time & Date overlap slightly on the homescreen

I've checked on my 4:3 ntsc tv and the time & date doesn't overlap. It is really close to each other but doesn't overlap. I will probably add more space between the 2 later on.

QUOTE
Background visualisation sometimes disappears from the homescreen, the problem can be resolved by going to 'settings' then backing out. (the same bug exists in Clearity)

I have no idea what is going on there. I'll look into it and see if I can find a problem.

QUOTE
Names for items dont appear in the following views,

Wraplist
Big Wraplist
Wide Icons
Big Wide

Like fluidman said this is a skin setting. The only one that doesn't have the label is the wide icons and that is just because it was a late addition and I forgot to add the label. It will be in the next release.

QUOTE
The selected "Set Content" for videos disappears

Which set content are you talking about? There is one on the add a source and another on the context menu. I don't really understand what you mean by disappears. Could you please explain?

QUOTE
Unable to select the 'Menu' in the OSD for DVD's

Yeah this is my fault. You should be able to select it by highlighting the skip back or rewind buttons on the osd and press down. We changed our osd and I forgot to make the change to this part of the navigation.

this skin looks sweet.

I realy love it, gonna play around a bit more with it today.

Will there be a SVN for it? That would realy be usefull, so people could always get a recent build for their xbmc versions.

regards

I am pretty sure that Slate is based on the code form Clearity, that is why it resembles it so much.
If Time and Date DONT overlap on the homescreen then boy is it close, a little space would be nice.

- "Manually Add To Database" runs off the button its on:

- The selected "Set Content" for videos disappears

Any info about the bug with the homescreen background visualisation disappearing and coming back when selecting 'settings' can be useful for Smokehead I am sure. Maybe Smoke and Abe could collaborate to fix that one.

As far as the names not appearing for some selected views, my bad, I didn't even think for a second that it could be a skin setting that is disabled rolleyes.gif

BTW- Is this skin going SVN???
