ok, back with some progress (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
It's not allot though, last night i ran into a problem.. a big problem, but after several hours that got fixed quite easily ( thanks Donno )

As you can see there is still an overlapping problem when the horizontal and vertical buttons meet, i could go for a temp fix, but if you know the PSP menu  you'll know how it's supposed to work.  so for now i'll leave it like this.

Yesterday i said i wanted to try and make the intro..  i'll leave that for now also (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
Today i'll be working on the Photo menu, and try to get that worked out a bit.

As far as scrolling animations go(if there is any), how accurate is it to the PSP's interface?

And do you think you can post some sort of a short video displaying what you have so far?

That would give us much more of a detailed perspective on how the horizontal and vertical scrolling animations are... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

small update:

i've been having some problems to replicate the exact PSP skin..  mainly 2 reasons.
 - The buttonscroller in XBMC is a little buggy.   this is keeping me from having nice smooth scrolling.
 - the spincontrol in thumnail-panel is keeping me from navigating to the right in 1 click.    this is quite a big problem.  ( now you have to click 3 times before you reach a button to the right )

If you dont understand this.. dont worry,  these 2 problems wont mean the end of this skin or anything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Anyhoo.
Today i started on getting some page animations in, and i also included custom background support ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
you're only able to change the wallpaper of 1 page, PSP uses the same wallpaper on all pages, so i will do the same  ( sorry for everyone who wants different wallpaper on each page )

I dont really want to give out something that's not finished.. but because of some errors in XBMC i cant really reach my goal untill they get fixed.

i still have enough things to do before i'll release anything.
I think i've found a good solution for the vertical menu on the main page, when i get home today i'll try it out.

If i'll release a beta it wont be because i need help, I can ask help from xbmc dev's on the IRC channel whenever i'm stuck so... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Next few things i'll work on will be testing this new idea i've got for the vertical menu, and also working on the video overlay buttons.

Things are moving still, but enough things left to do  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)

That wallpaper looks sick in this skin. I really hope you don't release it to soon, But I also hope it won't turn into the mc360 debacle. Is there gonna be any magnifying effect when you scroll over the Icons, that ussualy looks sweet. Keep the sweet progress pics coming

blaize, just by using this background you tested out, it really pronounces your icons, their clarity, and sharpness too!

blaize i have to agree with mbay and pheidias, the contrast between the background and icons just pop out at you and look very good i might add.  keep it up and hope the coding goes well so we can see a release.

thanks guys, i'm glad you all like it so far !
i didnt have any chance to work on the skin today   i forgot to bring the skin files to work, so i could do anything there eventhough i had some time for it.  ( no xbox there though )
and after work i had some personal stuff.

Tomorrow i'll redo the icons at work, it wont really change in your eyes though, i'm redoing them in vector format and export them as .png again.
i'll also try to get the shadow under the icons closer to the way PSP has them.

ok, here's a small list of things i'm planning:
- Create new icons   ( tomorrow probably )
- Fix/recreate the vertical menu ( i'll start/test things tomorrow )
- Intro animation ( if i have enough time at work, i'll look into it )

- start on the video overlay buttons
- Start on Photo overlay buttons

i hope that upcoming weekend i can borrow a PSP from a friend  it'll help me perfect some things i hope
