Xbmc Psp Skin
« on: October 19, 2006, 06:32:00 PM »

Here's a skin i started for XBMC last night.
it's the very first time i looked into xbmc editing, so it's all completely new to me.

I've got a horizontal scrolling menu working, and atm i'm working on the sub-section some menu's have.
I'm not sure how to make screenshots, so a tip on that would be nice ( so i can atleast provide decent screens in the future.

and again... i'm new at this, so be gentle.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

ok, back with a little progress ( and better screens )

I actually started from scratch today, the previous code had gotten to messy from all the little tests.

Here a screenshot of the main menu:

(IMG:http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/8498/screenshot000ki8.jpg)

And here a screen of what happens when you press an icon.
Remember that this drop down menu is not done, the icons will be changed later today, and also linked to the right sections.

As you can see there's a little problem 2 icons over-lapping eachother.
a simple fix would be to add a transparant icon in there, but since i'm using a Buttonscroller instead of a ButtonMenu that wont really help.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please contact me (or just leave a reply ;P )

Hope you like it so far.

Another screenshot, this time with new icons.
if you look closely you'll see that i kinda messed up the flow around some of the new icons, but i'll redo that later.

I've started linking some of the buttons, and later i'll start on trying to make a new page.
A problem i'm starting to have is the fact that i dont own a PSP (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
I'm basing this skin on what i can remember from a psp i played with, and pictures i find on the internet.

I'm enjoying this skin making quite a bit, it's not easy.. but the result is nice so far.
Off to find out how to add a new window... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

PS:
If anyone has a nice clear video/picture of the PSP menu, it would help me out allot !

Why not try making the whole horizontal scroller disappear when you have selected the settings?

Funny you say that roormonger (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
In the PSP menu the horizontal ones stays when you open the vertical one, but from the vertical menu you sometimes have the option to go into another sub-menu (also vertical)   but when in that second menu.. the main horizontal bar is hidden.    do you have Any idea how to hide that ?

Atm i've got all 3 menu's  ( main, sub-menu, sub-sub-menu )  working.. but it looks a little cluttered.
so any help on how to make the main horizontal bar dissapear when in the sub-sub-menu would help out allot
thanks

This looks incredible so far!!

It's a great replication of the PSP's great interface.

BTW, will it have the option for custom backgrounds like the psp?

Thanks KungFuGin smile.gif
I'm not sure about custom backgrounds since i have no idea how-to  tongue.gif
but since i've seen how many custom backgrounds there are for PSP... i guess i have no choice then to support that also.

Anyhoo.. progress.
I was wrong about the sub-sub-menu tongue.gif  it seems PSP doesnt have this, so i've corrected this allready.
I'm working on the Settings menu atm  and it's going good.   so far ihavent had any real problems.

Saw a crappy quality of the PSP intro, and i think i'll try to replicate that tomorrow,  eventhough i have no idea yet how to make the animation tongue.gif

If someone has an PSP and a digital camera.. could you PLEASE! make pictures of some (if not all) menu's ?
i can work with temp layouts atm, but ofcourse it's better to do it right the first time.

I really need (lots of) pictures of the PSP interface, thanks

Let's say the horizontal scroller's id is 3 and the vertical one is 4 then for the visibility tag in 3 you would add !Control.HasFocus(4)

Don't know if that explain's it very well. If you send me the xml It would be alot easier to show you cause I could use your code as an example.
