Problem With Ghosting Of Text On Ubuntu
« on: April 17, 2007, 10:56:00 AM »

Hi

Thanks to the great tutorials on this board I am typing this from a hard drive install of Ubuntu on my 360.  Everything is working great with one exception.

Text ghosts, in particular certain colours, e.g. the blue headlines from news.bbc.co.uk

The text on the command prompt however (ctrt+alt+f2) is perfect.  I am using a VGA cable on my monitor.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue, or if it is a problem with my set up.

Thanks.

I don't get them when I pull that site up, no ghosting at all. I haven't seen anything like that in any of the apps/sites I've used. Using VGA too.

Thanks for the response.

Do you mind if I ask what resolution you are running in, and whether you are using wide screen or not?

I've had a closer look on mine and the text on the console is also ghosting for me, although this is hard to see on a black background.

Using noname VGA-cable and a 4:3 monitor at 1280*1024 with the rescale patch for fullscreen. No ghosts,

My screen goes a little brighter then normal when using the rescale. No real problem, I just adjust brightness/contrast on the screen. This doesnt happen in 16:9 mode.

Edit: Btw some ppl have problems with low quality VGA-cables. Can this be your problem? Just a tought.

Ok, I have tried using my Microsoft VGA cable instead of my Madcatz cable on my other monitor and the ghosting of text is more or less none existent.  You must be right about it being primarily a cable / monitor issue.

If I stare really closely I can still see a slight ghosting to the side of text (i.e there is a lighter version of each letter to the right).  I guess I must be used to a picture from a PC with a DVI output, well either that or my eyes are going!!
