Divx/xvid With Ac3 Audio...
« on: March 07, 2005, 03:27:00 PM »

Hi all!
I have a lot of dvdrips encoded with divx/xvid for the video and ac3 for the audio.
If I try to play them with xbmc-2005-03-04 they simply don't start the first time I press the A button on them and if I press again xbmc halts..

Is there a way to play those files with an xbox without having the dolby/ac3 cables&hardware??

Thank you,
Caio

Just tried with my bedroom xbox.

(IMG:http://dday.tx-shells.net/ac3.JPG)

Plays fine here...

Please enable debug logging (set to true) and raise loglevel to 0 in xboxmediacenter.xml

Divx/xvid With Ac3 Audio...

Thank you all for your replies.

I deleted and reupped the avi files on the xbox, now the situation after testing with 3 dvdrips with ac3 audio is:

- if the file is encoded with xvid: the avi seems to start playing but really slow (less than 2fps!!!) and if I press the small black button on the xbox controller xbmc reports ac3 etc. and CHNS:5

- if the file is encoded with DivX: everything works fine and xbmc reports ac3 etc. CHNS:6 instead of 5 like the xvids (like the first picture of JayDee)

When playing the xvids+ac3 files the debuglogs says:
CODE

08-03-2005 18:25:19 INFO mplayer play:F:\movies\The.Bourne.Supremacy-CD1.avi cachesize:2048

while playing a DivX+ac3 file that works on xbmc the debuglog says:
CODE

08-03-2005 18:25:34 INFO mplayer play:F:\movies\Troy-cd1.avi cachesize:2048

08-03-2005 18:25:44 DEBUG We set resolution 6
08-03-2005 18:25:44 NOTICE Start LED Control

The big difference I found is this line:
CODE
INFO   --------------- restart ---------------

which appears only with xvid+ac3 files, the ones I have problems with.

Any help appreciated...

Thank you again,
Caio

mhm, turning the cache should fix it if the files are interleaved. Well worth a shot i would say.

in settings -> system -> cache -> audio/video Hard disk (the first item in "Cache" section) I set cache to 0 but it didn't help

I found another dvdrip encoded with xvid+ac3 and this works fine...
The difference between this one that works and the other xvids is the bitrate that xbmc reports:
- CBR 480000 = the dvdrips don't work
- CBR 576000 = dvdrips work fine.

Could it be anything related to the difference of bitrate?

Thank you again,
Caio

But do you mean during the play?
How? I tried all the keys while playing the movie but couldn't find the cache setting.

Thank you,

You're right, sorry for the dumb question but I really missed the "no cache" option..

However it doesn't help... the movie start playing a couple of frames and then everything hangs unless I go back or forward...

Really weird...

Any other suggestion?
