Xradar Problems
« on: June 07, 2005, 04:05:00 PM »

I have xRadar in my scripts directory in its own folder, and I have a pics folder and a temp folder in the xRadar folder. I put all the images in pics, and left the temp folder blank (not sure what I should put in there, if anything). However, though the images come up fine in xRadar, it tells me that a radar is not available in my area code and/or mode I chose. I've chosen both range modes and neither work. I even tried the default zip code that xRadar came with and it's not working right neither. Have I missconfigured something or is xRadar not working anymore due to a change in servers or what?

This should help.

Change

to
   count = (count + 1) % 5

Change
   self.RadarPic = self.guiMaker.makePic(RadarLoc[0], RadarLoc[1], 563, 380, os.path.join(TempDir, "5.jpg"))
to
   self.RadarPic = self.guiMaker.makePic(RadarLoc[0], RadarLoc[1], 563, 380, os.path.join(TempDir, "4.jpg"))

Change
    for i in range(6):
to
    for i in range(5):

Change
    if self.ready and self.looping and not count == 5:
to
    if self.ready and self.looping and not count == 4:

Hmmm, I just went through all of that and it's still not working. It still says it cannot find images for that area and mode. I used to have xRadar before when I installed a pre-packed XBMC on a torrent site, and it worked fine. I'm wondering how that was configured.

If you make those changes, it will work on short range, but not on long range. Also, try a zip code from a big city in your area. I know that it didn't work in my hometown, but it did work on a near, larger city. However, the radar images were not centered on the city I asked it to find, it's still better than nothing. This script would be great if someone could patch it up a bit or add it to the weather information that is compiled into the XBMC builds. Hey, there's a good request!
