A Few (fairly) New Scripts
« on: March 11, 2005, 02:02:00 PM »

OK guys, I've made a few scripts in the last few months and I thought I'd start getting word out about them:

- YAC2:
A modified YAC script which adds a few features to the original caller ID script, such as a message box that appears in the corner, which a more readable format and that auto-closes after a fewseconds and a log file of incoming calls

- TorrentBrowser3
A modified TorrentBrowser script which will not only browse, but also search www.torrentspy.com.  From there you may either download the .torrent to your xbox, ftp it to another computer or send it to a computer running ABC for immediate download.

- TommyV2
Displays articles written by TommyV2 on www.tommyv2.com.

- Maddox
Displays articles written by Maddox on www.thebestpageintheuniverse.com.

These can all be found at http://ca.geocities.com/[email protected]/Scripts/

I've made a few changes to some of the scripts.  Most notably is the addition of the "Latest Torrents" section to the TorrentBrowser script.

I've added the ability for the YAC script to add display pictures for recognized numbers.  All you need to do is place a [phonenumber].jpg file in the yac/ subdirectory.

For some reason it parses incorrectly, whenever I DL a torrent it saves it as "download.torrent" I dont suppose any gurus out there could get this altered enough that it actually names the file properly?

The reason for that is that torrentspy's webpage uses a download.asp file to redirect to whichever file you try to download, so the script doesn't actually see the real file name.

I gathered that after I looked at the site and links, is there a way we could have it name it via ID rather than page?

For those of you using TorrentBrowser, and getting frustrated with the fact that the torrents always download as "download.torrent" and overwrite each other, I have just posted a new version that uses the display name of the torrent (shortened to 33 characters) as the filename.

The only thing I'm concerned about is invalid characters for filenames.  If anyone has any problems with it, please send me an email and let me know.

ok forgive me for the question rich-ard but i havent been able to find the answer.

is the torrentbrowser script purely for downloading the .torrent files off torrentspy? or is it an actual client which downloads the files?

It just downloads the torrents and not the files, but you can stream them right over to a pc which will download them, and or just let them sit on your xbox and FTP them over.  Also i was hoping that someone would indeed make a python bittorrent or something of that nature, i have stumbled on a python tracker of bittorent, but i don't know if i can be ported over to xbox.  Maybe it's something worth looking into.

If you are using ABC to download the torrents, change the ABC settings at the top of the file to the settings for your server, otherwise set it to LOCAL or FTP.  (And change your local or ftp settings)
