Has Anyone Else Been Having Extreme Instability
« on: March 05, 2005, 04:39:00 PM »

Whenever I push a button on the D-Pad while watching the video, I attempt to fast forward at high speed, press B to exit a video or do almost anything with the in-video menu, I get:

XBMC Fatal Error:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS-VIOLATION (0x0000005)
at 0x0010cafc

Moving the slider in the in-video menu gives me:

XBMC Fatal Error:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS-VIOLATION (0x0000005)
at 0x0010cc1a

It's unlikely that my default.xbe is damaged, but I find it curious that the majority of the error are in one location. Anyway, has anyone else had similar problems?

This has been covered sooo many times before..

go to your video settings in xbmc. if 'enable alternate mplayer' is checked, uncheck it.. vice versa.

a little fatal error search would've helped

Argh, I can't even find the option to do that, checked the XBMC forums and it helped little...

Now I remember why I didn't update XBMC for the longest time. *downgrades to a useable version*

Ok so what version are you using when you say the 'latest'? I'm using 3/05/05 and my mplayer works perfectly. ffw and rw works just fine in music and video. Looks like that option for the mplayer i was talkin about has been removed...

I'm using 2005-03-04 and see nothing like that either; creating my system\players\mplayer folder and such (as per the pinned topic) just makes everything unplayable. Maybe I'm way off and this is supposed to be done when compiling it or something... or maybe the one from the usual places just doesn't work. I'm certainly not grabbing Visual Studio and the XDK again just to compile the sources.

Meh, I've just downgraded and will wait for the next major release. Hopefully everything will work then.

EDIT: Erm... 2/1/05. Looks like I got a different version than I thought... let me update this (again) and see if it works.

Now that I have the right version, everything's working aside from a errors with the DPad skip. It moves forward two or three times and then continually skips to the same section over and over.

This whole incident has confused me, and I think I'm just going to go to bed. o_o
